On Wednesday, actress Debra Messing, never one to keep her leftist sentiments to herself, shared a photo on Facebook showing her 13-year-old son Roman Zelman sitting down during the playing of the national anthem at the New York Rangers hockey game. Below the photo, she delineated how he had asked her permission to do so and she had given it, and she implied that she had a tearfully proud moment as he stiffed the anthem.
Messing wrote her description of the incident: “Please stand for the pledge of allegiance.” Son: “Mom, I want to sit down in protest. Can we do that?” Me: “Yes, honey. We can do that.” “Whose [sic] crying? I’m not crying. #BLM.”
