DEAR DIARY: CNN’s Acosta Reveals He’s Writing A Book About Trump, Gets Mocked

CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta was mocked on Thursday after revealing that he was writing a book about President Donald Trump, which is scheduled to be released in June.

“CNN’s chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta is authoring a book about the Trump administration and its battles with the news media,” CNN reported.

The Harper imprint of HarperCollins Publishers said that Acosta’s book will share “never-before-revealed stories of this White House’s rejection of truth, while laying out the stakes for how Trump’s hostility toward facts poses an unprecedented threat to our democracy.”

Acosta, who even left-wing media has said is dangerous to real journalism, has often been a lightning rod for negative attention during the Trump administration.

Acosta’s book announcement was met with widespread mockery online after CNN’s Brian Stelter tweeted out his news article on the book.

“What a laughable premise,” The Federalist’s David Harsanyi said. “No one stops journalists from telling the truth and they are in absolutely no danger when doing so.”

“It’s such a dangerous time to tell the truth in America that Jim Acosta is going to write a book about how dangerous a time it is to tell the truth in America,” former CNN producer Steve Krakauer tweeted.

“Obviously the title should be ‘Dear Diary,'” The Hill’s Buck Sexton tweeted.

“CNN’s Stelter risked his life to get the scoop that CNN’s Acosta was pushing a book,” The Free Beacon’s Bill McMorris tweeted. “Everyone downplaying the importance of a free press should think about what we would lose if we did away with such essential journalism.”

“This is going to be in the Publisher’s Weekly ’10 Best Satires’ list for 2019 (except the only people laughing are the Trumps and Fox News),” Playboy columnist Art Tavana tweeted.

“It’s such a dangerous time to be a reporter in the U.S. that you might… get a book deal from a big publisher, a PR blitz & plenty of opportunities to criticize the administration,” NRA TV’s Cam Edwards tweeted. “Meanwhile, here’s a list of the people China ‘disappeared’ last year.”
