David Ellison has laid out a vision for the future of his new entertainment conglomerate, and now it has a name too: Skydance.

The entertainment exec shared on X that once the merger is complete, it will all be housed under the new corporate brand name he founded 20 years ago, with Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery existing as sub-brands under that umbrella.

“Both have distinct identities, extraordinary legacies, and brands that have resonated with audiences for generations,” Ellison wrote in the post. “We wanted a name that would give the combined company an identity of its own while allowing Paramount and Warner Bros. — and all our extraordinary brands — to remain in the spotlight.”

Ellison founded the Skydance film studio in 2006. He went on to acquire Paramount, and now Warner Bros., making his company one of the biggest players in the entertainment space.

The post included promo footage from some of the film and TV projects of the combined company. The entertainment exec called it “a creative-first home for bold, quality storytelling.”

“We have big goals for Skydance, and we intend to pursue them with passion, imagination, and a willingness to take smart risks. At the same time, we will honor what makes Paramount and Warner Bros. special — giving both studios the opportunity to grow, tell more great stories and bring those stories to even broader audiences around the world, powered by the scale and capabilities of Skydance,” the post concluded. “I couldn’t be more excited about what we’re going to build together.”

Paramount Skydance is slated to close its $110 billion mega-merger with Warner Bros. on October 6. The deal successfully cleared its final legal hurdle after a federal judge approved a settlement with 12 state attorneys general, which includes mandates to protect local studio lots, increase domestic film production, and establish an independent editorial board for CBS News and CNN.

The company won out in a bidding war against Netflix. The newly formed company will combine major media assets in what’s being seen as a win for conservatives. While Ellison is not strictly partisan, he has been called “MAGA-adjacent,” and his father Larry Ellison is a big-time Republican donor.

President Donald Trump has called the Ellisons “friends” and “big supporters.”
