A crewmember died on the set of Marvel Studios’ latest series “Wonder Man” on Tuesday following an accident in Los Angeles.

The rigger, who has been identified by the Los Angeles Police Department as Juan Carlos Osorio, 41, of Temple City, fell from the rafters in an accident at CBS Radford Studios in Studio City, the Associated Press reported.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, and our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident,” a Marvel spokesperson said in a statement to the outlet.

The series — which stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, a stuntman-turned superhero — was not filming on Tuesday when the accident occurred, but the crew was on set working, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Wonder Man” is described as, “Hollywood actor Simon Williams is thrust into the world of superheroes as he gets powers of his own, and becomes the new superhero Wonder Man.”

Matthew D. Loeb, president of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) — the union that represents behind the scenes workers — released a statement following the accident.

“Everyone in the IA family is shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic loss,” Loeb said. “We are working to support our member’s family, and his fellow members and colleagues.”

“Safety on set is our highest priority and we will assist Cal/OSHA in their investigation in any way that we can,” he added. “If you feel unsafe on set for any reason, members can call the IATSE Safety Hotline at 844-422-9273 or use our safety info app.”

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will be investigating the accident, the AP noted.

A GoFundMe has been set up to raise money for Osorio’s family. At the time of this publication, it has already raised more than $124,000.

“On February 6th, 2024, our friend [Juan] Spike [Osario] lost his life on the set of Marvel’s ‘WonderMan’ shoot at CBS Radford studios due to a potential structural failure,” the message on the fundraiser page read.

“We are hoping the Production Company, The Facility, MBS, Marvel Studios handles things properly, but expect a long road fraught with attorney fees and expenses,” the message added. “In the meantime, bills will be mounting and the widow, Boom Operator Joanne W. will be left to deal with everything. Help if you’re able, it’s greatly appreciated.”
