Country music star John Michael Montgomery is recovering after his tour bus experienced an accident in Tennessee on Friday.
Montgomery posted an update regarding his condition to Facebook over the weekend.
“Yesterday we had a serious accident on the way to a concert in North Carolina. Everyone that was on the bus is recovering from their injuries,” Montgomery wrote.
“Despite some cuts and broken ribs, I am doing well. I will take some time over the next couple of weeks to heal and be back on the road soon,” he added. “I am grateful to the medics and highway patrol for their quick response to this difficult situation. Thanks to everyone for their concerns.”
William Salyer of Staffordsville, Kentucky, and Marc Wood of Frankfort, Kentucky, were also injured in the one-vehicle accident, according to a report by The Tennessean.
Montgomery’s September 17 concert in New Braunfels, Texas, has been removed from his website following the accident, the outlet reported. All of his other tour dates remain unchanged.
According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, his 2011 Prevost Featherlite bus was reportedly headed south of Jellico on Interstate 75 when it overturned after going off the roadway.
The country music artist is the voice behind several bestselling songs, including “I Swear,” “I Love the Way You Love Me,” and “I Can Love You Like That.” His most recent “Sold” tour has returned the iconic artist’s voice to locations nationwide, ranging from Texas to Indiana to Georgia.
His career includes ten albums and more than 30 songs reaching the Billboard country charts. His first album, “Life’s a Dance,” stretches back three decades to 1992.
Montgomery’s brother, Eddie, is also well-known among country music fans, serving as half of the duo Montgomery Gentry.
The artist took to the Kentucky State Fairgrounds last month for a set of songs with his son Walker and American Idol Season 20 winner Noah Thompson.
Montgomery also recently shared a tribute on Instagram following the passing of country music star Naomi Judd. Her death on April 30, one day before she was to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, shocked the country music world. Montgomery’s tribute was among many from fellow artists inspired by Judd’s music career.
