Controversial Sex Education Post About Children Removed From Instagram
An Instagram post promoting sex education for young kids was removed from the platform after multiple reports that it was “inappropriate.”
An Instagram account that creates sex education slideshows made a controversial post advocating for adults to talk to children about pleasure – sexual and otherwise. The image carousel featured stock photography of children who all appear to be under age 10. After commenters expressed their concern and reported the post for inappropriate content to Instagram, it was removed from the @queersextherapy page, just days after it was published on September 3.
“Normalizing and destigmatizing the pursuit of pleasure — s-xual and otherwise — can send a strong message to children,” one slide read. Additional slides provided tips on how to “normalize pleasure” and talk about “pleasure-centered education” with children.
“Contrary to what some folks assume, teaching youth that s-x feels good does not cause more young people to have s-x,” read the post’s caption, before it was deleted.
Landon Starbuck, founder of Freedom Forever, a non-profit dedicated to protecting children from exploitation and trafficking, found the post “extremely concerning.” Starbuck told The Daily Wire that she believes immediate actions are necessary “to protect children and ensure this depraved behavior never becomes normalized.” Progressive, “sex positive” educators are part of the problem, she adds.
The “queer sex therapy” Instagram account is managed by The Expansive Group, who describe themselves as a “team of queer therapists, coaches, mentors, and sex educators that broaden insight around gender, sexuality, and relationships.” The author of the now-deleted post, Leah Goodman, describes herself as a “queer educator” who uses the pronouns “she/they” on her website.

After backlash on social media, the @queersextherapy account posted a message to their “story” feature on Instagram. “We turned comments off for yesterday’s post about s-x education for kids due to violent threats made against our team,” the message read. “We stand behind our belief that there are developmentally attuned ways to talk about pleasure across the lifespan.” The next day, the post was deleted.
Both The Expansive Group and Leah Goodman did not respond to The Daily Wire’s request for comment.
