A man who was in the United States illegally is facing charges related to attempted murder, assault, and incendiary devices over an attack on a pro-Israel demonstration in Colorado over the weekend.
Mohamed Sabry Soliman is suspected of attacking demonstrators in Boulder, Colorado, on Sunday with a makeshift flamethrower and fire bombs. He was booked in Boulder County Jail on Sunday night after being treated for some burn wounds sustained in the attack. He is being held on a $10 million bond, according to The Guardian.
Soliman is charged with a federal hate crime. According to court documents, he admitted he wanted to kill all Zionist people and spent a year planning Sunday’s attack on a “Zionist group.”
Soliman is facing a slew of charges related to the attack, according to the Boulder County website. Those charges include first-degree assault – heat of passion, use of an incendiary device during a felony, crimes against the elderly, murder in the first degree – extreme indifference.
The attack wounded eight people, none of whom have died, according to Boulder police.
Soliman, 45, allegedly yelled “free Palestine” during the attack. Video shows Soliman holding bottles of a clear liquid that were allegedly makeshift incendiary devices. The FBI said that the suspect also used a “makeshift flamethrower” during the attack.
The FBI has called the attack a “targeted act of violence.”
“We are aware of and fully investigating a targeted terror attack in Boulder, Colorado,” FBI director Kash Patel said. “Our agents and local law enforcement are on the scene already, and we will share updates as more information becomes available.”

The attack targeted a demonstration by “Run for Their Lives Denver,” which was leading a march calling for the release of hostages taken by the terror group Hamas during the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel.
Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said that Soliman is in the United States illegally on an overstayed visa.
“The Colorado Terrorist attack suspect, Mohamed Soliman, is illegally in our country,” said McLaughlin. “He entered the country in August 2022 on a B2 visa that expired on February 2023. He filed for asylum in September 2022.”

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis called the attack a “heinous and targeted act on the Jewish community,” in a statement.
“As the Jewish community reels from the recent antisemitic murders in Washington, D.C., it is unfathomable that the community is facing another antisemitic attack here in Boulder, on the eve of the holiday of Shavuot,” said Polis. “Several individuals were brutally attacked while peacefully drawing attention to the plight of hostages who have been held by Hamas terrorists in Gaza for 604 days. Hate is unacceptable in our Colorado for all, and I condemn this act of terror. The suspect should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
