Disgraced former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick attacked the United States on Saturday for conducting what he described as racist “American terrorist attacks” driven by imperialism, which appears to be his response to U.S. military forces killing Qasem Soleimani, the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force, which is a designated terrorist organization.

“There is nothing new about American terrorist attacks against Black and Brown people for the expansion of American imperialism,” Kaepernick tweeted, adding, “America has always sanctioned and besieged Black and Brown bodies both at home and abroad. America militarism is the weapon wielded by American imperialism, to enforce its policing and plundering of the non white world.”

Kaepernick’s inflammatory and unsubstantiated claims drew instant backlash online.

Foreign Policy Research Institute Fellow Elizabeth Tsurkov tweeted: “Soleimani oversaw the murder, starvation, displacement, detention and torture of millions of brown Syrians and Iraqis.”

Chloé S. Valdary tweeted: “Lmaooooooooooo I have so many thoughts about this foolishness. Pause. This is also the type of s**t that basically sprints into antisemitism. Because *conspiracy level thinking that asserts that everyone is against you and also that you’re the center of the universe* is what always leads to supremacist type thinking.”

“This is why we’re not gonna win the election. Come get ya boy. I’m done,” Valdary continued. “This is legit one level before *the descent into extremist BHI* madness not a good look y’all.”

Valdary concluded, “Yo if you’re going into 2020 thinking ‘new year new me yes let’s kick it let’s make this my year positive thinking woot woot’ AND you’re thinking ‘holy shit all the white people are all trying to use their special powers to destroy me’ then we gotta talk.”

Federalist co-founder Ben Domenech tweeted: “Qassem Soleimani was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Americans who were black and brown. cc @Nike”

Popular conservative Twitter account AG tweeted: “Soleimani was responsible for killing more ‘brown people,’ especially Muslims, than almost any human being on the planet. Great work, @Nike . Hell of a spokesperson you have there.”

NewsBusters Managing Editor Curtis Houck tweeted: “Siding with an Iranian Islamic terrorist who’s killed hundreds Americans, injured untold numbers more, and from a country that’s anything but progressive to trash America? Disgusting and unsurprising. So you’re….pro-terrorism?”

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton tweeted: “This anti-American radical continues to be promoted by cultural elites.”

Retired U.S. diplomat Alberto Miguel Fernandez mocked Kaepernick, tweeting: “Future backup quarterback for the NFL’s expansion ‘Tehran Pasdaran.'”

Kaepernick, who is infamous for his kneeling during the national anthem, has been out of the NFL for years after playing poorly. The Daily Wire reported:

His move angered fans but delighted political pundits who loved his anti-America message. Kaepernick was on his way out of the NFL due to his mediocrity, but the protest made him one of the most famous NFL players in the country. Despite not having a playing job, he was hired as a Nike spokesman.

Kaepernick recently tried out for NFL teams but garnered no interest following his workout.

ESPN’s Stephen Smith blasted Kaepernick over his “stunt” working, saying, “He don’t want to play; he wants to be a martyr. But guess what? It ain’t working this time.”

Even rapper Jay Z, who is an advocate for Kaepernick, apparently was upset over Kapernick’s stunt, as a source told Sports Illustrated that Jay Z was “disappointed with Colin’s actions and believes he turned a legitimate workout into a publicity stunt.”

Kaepernick has faced backlash across the political spectrum, including from Democrats, and has even drawn the ire of families who have lost family members in war.

Gold star mom Amanda Jacobs gave an impassioned speech in the nation’s capital on July 4 last year where she blasted Kaepernick.

“When I look at this country today and I tell people, and I’ve wanted to say this loud so many times, Colin Kaepernick was getting paid $14 million dollars a year to throw a ball,” Jacobs said. “My son died for $14,000 a year and he’s given more than any football player, any athlete, has ever given.”
