Netflix announced on Friday that its hit series “Cobra Kai” will end with a final sixth season in a thank you note to what it called the “BEST” fandom.

The series’ creators, Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, promised that the upcoming sixth season would be the “biggest season of Cobra Kai yet” in an open letter posted on Twitter.

“A letter to you, the greatest fans in the world, from the showrunners of Cobra Kai,” the tweet read.

“Reacquainting the world with the ‘Karate Kid’ universe has been our humble honor,” the letter read, in part. “It has enabled us to play sensei, expanding the original storylines and birthing a new generation of underdogs. We’ve never once taken this opportunity for granted.”

“Our Day one goal with Cobra Kai has always been to end it on our terms, leaving the Valley in the time and place we’ve always imagined,” the letter added. “So it is with immense pride and thankfulness that we are able to announce that achievement.”

“While this may be a bittersweet day for the fandom, the Miyagiverse has never been stronger,” the letter continued.  “This fandom is the BEST on the planet and we hope to be telling more Karate Kid stories with you down the line. Because as we all know: Cobra Kai Never Dies.”

The series launched in 2018 and reunited “Karate Kid” stars Ralph Macchio, 61, and William Zabka, 57, who reprised their roles as Daniel LaRusso and his rival Johnny Lawrence from the original film.

It tells the lead characters’ stories more than 30 years after the events of the All Valley Karate Tournament, where LaRusso ended up coming away with the unbelievable win.

On Friday, Netflix also released a video sharing the news that the upcoming Season 6 would be the final one.
