CNN reported that it has fired senior producer John Griffin on Monday following his arrest on Friday that involved inducing minor girls for sexual activity.

“The charges against Mr. Griffin are deeply disturbing. We learned of his arrest Friday afternoon and terminated his employment today,” a CNN spokesperson said in a statement on Monday to Hearst Connecticut Media Group.

Griffin, 44, was arrested on Friday by the FBI after being charged with three counts of “using a facility of interstate commerce to attempt to entice minors to engage in unlawful sexual activity.”

Among the devastating claims in the indictment is that Griffin reportedly groomed girls as young as seven years old. Prosecutors claim Griffin found girls online through the services Kik and Google Hangouts.

CNN reported regarding the indictment;

According to an indictment filed on Thursday, Griffin allegedly paid for and kept an online profile on a “BDSM dating, Fetish, and Kink Site” for several years leading up to July 2020, on which he allegedly wrote he was looking for women who were “sexually ‘submissive’ and ‘open-minded.'”

During conversations on separate online platforms, Griffin allegedly said he believed in “a way of life” in which “women are sexually subservient and inferior to men,” according to the indictment. He allegedly used online platforms to seek parents “who would allow him to train their minor daughters to be sexually subservient,” the indictment said.

The FBI statement noted actions taken in 2020, including a June encounter involving the mother of two minor children:

In June of 2020, Griffin advised a mother of 9- and 13-year-old daughters that the mother’s responsibility was to see that her older daughter was “trained properly.”  Griffin later transferred over $3,000 to the mother for plane tickets so the mother and her 9-year-old daughter could fly from Nevada to Boston’s Logan airport.  The mother and child flew to Boston in July of 2020, where Griffin picked them up in his Tesla and drove them to his Ludlow house.  At the house, the daughter was directed to engage in, and did engage in, unlawful sexual activity.

The Daily Wire previously reported regarding Griffin’s arrest:

“We take the charges against Mr. Griffin incredibly seriously,” a CNN spokesperson told Fox News. “We only learned of his arrest this afternoon and have suspended him pending investigation.”

Griffin’s LinkedIn account said that he worked on CNN’s “New Day,” which is the show that was co-hosted by Cuomo for a number of years before Cuomo got his own show in primetime. Griffin specifically stated on LinkedIn that he “works shoulder-to-shoulder with lead anchor Chris Cuomo, seeing him through each show and producing live breaking news across the country and around the world.”

Griffin faces up a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years for each of the three felony counts that he was charged with, and could face up to life in prison.

DOJ also said that it “intends to seek the forfeiture of Griffin’s Ludlow house, his Tesla, a Mercedes, and other property that was used in the commission of the charged offenses.
