CNN Claims To Support The First Amendment. They’re Full Of It.

Press freedom is YOUR freedom.

Those words came from CNN’s Brian Stelter in 2016 when Stelter stressed how a free press was vital to the health of a “democracy.”

Anyone who watches CNN for longer than five minutes will most likely hear the network complaining about President Donald Trump’s “attacks” on the media, labeling him as a threat to free speech and “our Democracy.”

But does CNN really support the First Amendment? Hardly.

CNN regularly engages in seeking to silence those who criticize their network or those who offer facts that counter the narrative of the Democratic Party.

Here are just a few examples of CNN promoting censorship:

1. Threatening to reveal the identity of the person who created a GIF of Trump body slamming CNN.

On July 2, 2017, Trump tweeted out a GIF of himself tackling a CNN logo:

In response, CNN, which claimed that the GIF encouraged violence against their reporters, tracked down the person who allegedly created the GIF and threatened to reveal their identity if they ever did anything like it again:

CNN is not publishing “HanA**holeSolo’s” name because he is a private citizen who has issued an extensive statement of apology, showed remorse by saying he has taken down all his offending posts, and because he said he is not going to repeat this ugly behavior on social media again. In addition, he said his statement could serve as an example to others not to do the same.

CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change.

2. Pushing for tech companies to ban Alex Jones and Infowars.

Say what you will about Infowars and its founder, Alex Jones, they’ve made many outrageous and blatantly false statements for which there is absolutely no excuse.

In response to some of Infowars’ content, CNN began pressuring tech companies to ban Infowars from their platforms in an attempt to drive them out of business. Initially, Facebook resisted CNN’s attempts to silence another media company:

However, CNN’s wish came true on Monday, as Facebook, YouTube, Apple, Pinterest, and others began banning Infowars from their platforms. CNN’s Oliver Darcy, who led the push for censorship, even noted that the tech companies were not the ones behind the push:

CNN later published a report pressuring Google and Apple to remove Infowars’ app from their stores after tech companies began removing Infowars’ content from their sites.

3. Cutting off people on live television who say things that counter their narrative.

CNN has a long history of cutting people off who are speaking on a live broadcast when what the person is saying contradicts the network’s far-left views.

4. Creating a social media mob to bully an organization into removing “fake news” t-shirts from their online store.

Last week, CNN created a social media mob on Twitter over Newseum’s decision to sell t-shirts that said “fake news” in a CNN font, which reflect Trump’s bashing of the network:

CNN continued their fight against a t-shirt that offended them until Newseum decided to remove the shirt from their online store:
