A juror who served on the closely watched Lindsay Clancy triple-murder trial has admitted that she came into the trial with a political agenda, namely to set a precedent that could, in her view, help future mothers.
Juror Paula Devlin, who has made the rounds on legacy news channels, told “CBS Saturday Morning” that her decision to find Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity was motivated by her desire to “change something” and make things better for “other women in the future.”
“Even though we didn’t know what was going on outside of our little bubble that we were in, we knew that this was a turning point and this would be something that could change something, to make it better for other women in the future, for other families,” Devlin said. “You know, justice for those children is this never happening again.”
Clancy has admitted to killing her three children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan — by strangling them one at a time with exercise bands in the family’s Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023. She sought to avoid criminal responsibility for the killings at trial by relying on what’s commonly referred to as the insanity defense.
Devlin said she and the other jurors, who were not sequestered, felt the “weight” of their decision while serving on the trial. Notably, 11 of the 12 jurors, including Devlin, voted to find Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity, while a single holdout refused to agree, ultimately resulting in a deadlocked jury and mistrial.
Since the mistrial was declared on September 4, Devlin has spoken to NBC, the Boston Globe, WCVB, the Daily Mail, and given multiple interviews to CBS.

Devlin recently came forward with two other older female jurors, just days after the mistrial was declared, to voice support for Clancy and heap praise on Clancy’s defense lawyer Kevin Reddington. She also revealed new details about the jurors to CBS host Gayle King, including the nearly 50-year age range and the racial makeup of the 12-person panel.
She told King there was only “one person of color” on the jury and said that person was the holdout who refused to find Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity. She specifically outed him as a black man, which shocked King. “A black man is the holdout juror?” King reacted. “Whoa. I have to sit with that for just a second.”
Clancy is currently being held at Tewksbury Hospital, a state-run psychiatric facility in Massachusetts, where she’s been in custody since 2023. It remains unclear whether the state will decide to retry Clancy for the killings.
