Chris Rock Admits Trump Got One Thing Right

Comedian Chris Rock doesn’t consider himself a Trump supporter, but there is one opinion the president holds that he believes is correct: fake news.

The entertainer discussed his thoughts during a recently published interview with Variety. “I’m not a fan. But it’s weird when somebody gets one thing right, and the one thing almost clears them of all their other sins. The news is fake. He got that right.’”

Curtis Houck, managing editor of the Media Research Center’s NewsBusters, said Rock is picking up on what’s so obvious to others.

“In this day and age, we often find ourselves feeling like we’re approaching cats-and-dogs living together on certain issues, and that includes the acknowledgment that the legacy, elitist media have failed to serve the public,” Houck said in a statement to Fox News Digital. 

“The widespread awareness of both media bias and press ineptitude will be one of President Trump’s longest-lasting legacies. Chris Rock certainly seems to be on the president’s wavelength,” he added.

During a 2023 comedy event in Washington, D.C., Rock warned the assembled crowd, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and members of President Biden’s administration, that their efforts to arrest Trump would surely backfire.

“Are you guys really going to arrest Trump?” Rock said at the time. “Do you know this is only going to make him more popular. It’s like arresting Tupac. He’s just gonna sell more records. Are you stupid?”

Like most of Hollywood, Rock is a long-time liberal who frequently uses his stand-up platform and satire to critique American politics, race relations, and cultural issues. 

In a 2020 interview with The New York Times, he argued former President Barack Obama’s big win was nothing more than “progress for white people.”

“I said this before, but Obama becoming the president, it’s progress for white people,” Rock told the outlet at the time. “It’s not progress for black people. It’s the Jackie Robinson thing. It’s written like he broke a barrier, as if there weren’t black people that could play before him. And that’s how white people have learned about racism. They think, when these people work hard enough, they’ll be like Jackie.”
