<p>Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, a Democrat, unloaded on a reporter for asking about illegal aliens, which is a legal term for a person who is illegally in America.</p>
<p>Johnson called the term &#8220;racist&#8221; and sarcastically suggested that he should also call black people &#8220;slaves.&#8221;</p>
<p>The reporter asked Johnson about his apparent refusal to file a report to the White House detailing his city&#8217;s spending on illegal aliens. &#8220;What has happened with that?&#8221; the reporter asked.</p>
<p>&#8220;We don&#8217;t have illegal aliens,&#8221; Johnson told the reporter while shaking his head. &#8220;I don&#8217;t know if that&#8217;s from some sort of sci-fi message for which you&#8217;ve had.&#8221;</p>
<p>When the reporter explained that he was merely using a legal term for a person illegally in the country, Johnson made a comparison to slavery. &#8220;Listen, the legal term for my people were slaves,&#8221; the Democrat said. &#8220;You want me to use that term, too?&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Let&#8217;s just get the language right,&#8221; the mayor continued. &#8220;We&#8217;re talking about undocumented individuals that are human beings. The last thing that I&#8217;m going to do is accept that type of racist, nasty language to describe human beings.&#8221;</p>
<p>Johnson <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DQPIhblgYoU/?igsh=dHc4N3I5YWpmODNu">posted</a> the moment to his Instagram account on Saturday and captioned the post, &#8220;This isn’t a sci-fi show. These are human beings. We will not abandon our humanity to score cheap political points.&#8221;</p>

<p>Johnson has made it a priority to limit the ability of federal law enforcement to detain people who are in the country illegally. Earlier this month, for example, he signed an executive order to create “ICE free zones” in Chicago, which is already a sanctuary city, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chicago-mayor-brandon-johnson-signs-executive-order-establishing-ice-free-zones">The Daily Wire</a> previously reported.</p>
<p>“The order establishes ICE-free zones,&#8221; Johnson said at the time. &#8220;That means that city property and unwilling private businesses will no longer serve as staging grounds for these raids.&#8221;</p>

<p>Still, President Donald Trump remains committed to fulfilling his campaign promises. The administration started “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chicago-mayor-brandon-johnson-signs-executive-order-establishing-ice-free-zones">Operation Midway Blitz</a>” in Illinois last month, resulting in more than 1,000 arrests.</p>
<p>Federal ICE agents have increasingly become targets of violence, especially in sanctuary cities. On October 4, officers in Chicago were targeted in an apparently coordinated strike. According to Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin, officers were “rammed by vehicles and boxed in by 10 cars” and agents were forced to exit their vehicles on foot.</p>
<p>“One of the drivers who rammed the law enforcement vehicle was armed with a semi-automatic weapon,” McLaughlin explained. “Law enforcement was forced to deploy their weapons and fire defensive shots at an armed U.S. citizen who drove herself to the hospital to get care for wounds.”</p>
<p>The armed woman in question was already on Border Patrol’s radar after she recently doxxed agents and posted online, “Hey to all my gang let’s f*** those mother f***ers up, don’t let them take anyone,” according to the assistant secretary.</p>
<p>McLaughlin said the Chicago Police Department refused to provide backup for the ICE agents.</p>
