Carlos Santana’s wife, Cindy Blackman Santana, gave fans an update Wednesday about how the famed guitarist was doing after he collapsed on stage during his concert in Detroit.
The wife of the 74-year-old rocker shared in a message on Facebook that her husband was “resting” and “doing very well” after the guitarist suddenly collapsed on the floor while performing in Clarkston, a suburb of Detroit, Tuesday night at the Pine Knob Music Festival, as The Daily Wire previously reported. She also provided more information after the crowd was told to pray for the rock and roll star reportedly suffering from a “serious medical issue.”
In the message, Cindy wrote, “Hi Everyone! Carlos & I thank you so much for your prayers, love, care & concern for him!”
“Please know that he’s resting and doing very well!” her message added. “He was diagnosed with heat exhaustion & dehydration… it was 100 degrees on stage and 114 under the lights so that coupled with not enough water is what caused the issue. ”
“He’ll be as good as new soon!” Santana’s wife continued. “Thank you again and we love you! Cindy & Carlos.”
On Tuesday, videos and pictures surfaced on Twitter about Santana reportedly being treated by “Medical personnel on stage” after he had “just passed out on stage,” one tweet from a reporter from Detroit’s Fox affiliate read.

“Crowd asked to pray for him because of a ‘serious medical’ issue,” the tweet added.
A video showed the performer waving to fans as he was being taken off the stage on what appeared to be a gurney.

The show in Michigan was part of the veteran star’s summer-long “Miraculous Supernatural 2022” tour with Earth, Wind & Fire, which kicked off in June and is scheduled to run through August, as Variety noted.
The “Black Magic Woman” hitmaker underwent what his management called an “unscheduled” heart procedure last year. At the time, Santana released a video for fans as he explained that he had asked Cindy to take him to the hospital because of an issue with his chest, ABC News noted.
“I’m going to be taking time off for a little bit to make sure that I replenish and rest,” the guitarist shared.
The performer ended up canceling the remainder of his shows during his residency in Las Vegas in December, but he later resumed doing shows the following month.
