Daily Wire host Candace Owens began trending on Twitter Wednesday evening, and remains a trending topic Thursday morning, following Democrats’ demands that President Joe Biden nominate a “black woman” to take the seat of retiring U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer.

Following the news of Justice Breyer’s forthcoming retirement, “Squad” member Democrat Rep. Ayanna Pressley (MA) tweeted at Biden, “it’s time for a Black woman on the Supreme Court.”

The White House on Wednesday confirmed that the president will nominate a black woman. “[Biden] has stated and reiterated his commitment to nominating a black woman to the Supreme Court and certainly stands by that,” said White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki.

The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh on Wednesday joined Fox News’ Tucker Carlson to address the demand for a black woman on the court, poking a hole in the Democrats’ skin-deep “diversity” values by suggesting Owens, a black woman, for the seat.

“I would like to join with some people on Twitter who have said ‘Hey, if you are looking for a black woman’ why not my friend [Candace Owens]? Let’s put her up for the nominee as well,” Walsh told Carlson.

“But we know that when they say they’re ‘representing’ a certain race, it’s really very specific to what they think, what they believe,” Walsh continued.

“This idea of ‘representation,’ by the way — the Supreme Court … these are not elected representatives,” the author noted. “What they’re supposed to represent, and stand for, and interpret is the Constitution, not represent people racially in the United States.”

Walsh’s strike at the Left’s “diversity” sparked outrage by leftists online, and Owens’ named began trending as Twitter’s number one topic.

Owens responded via Twitter, “Am I really trending because America wants me to be the next Supreme Court justice?” she wrote. “What an honor!”

The BLEXIT founder was recently mocked on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” in a racially-charged sketch, essentially for being black and having views SNL apparently believes are unacceptable for a black person. The Daily Wire reported:

In the skit, cast member Ego Nwodim played Owens, speaking to Kate McKinnon as Fox News host Laura Ingraham.

… “My next guest is here to address the voting rights bill, which would make it easier to vote for minorities and harder for white people in Florida to vote twice,” McKinnon as Ingraham said in the skit. “Please welcome my one black friend Candace Owens.”

“Martin Luther King would have voted for Trump,” the comedian playing Owens said. “Laura, liberals try to make everything about race. To quote the only words Martin Luther King ever said, ‘I have a dream.’ That’s it, end of quote. Nothing about money or jobs or schools, unless you count his tombstone that said, ‘Great job, gang, racism over.’”

The segment mocking Owens ended with Nwodim saying black people want Owens to stop speaking out, again attacking Owens for being black and thinking in a way that’s apparently unacceptable.

“Hey [SNL] —not sure who this woman is you have playing me but I am much better looking than this,” Owens responded to the sketch, earlier this week. “Next time just reach out and I’ll play myself. That way the skit will actually be funny and America might even tune in to the show again! #SaturdayNightLive.”
