Megyn Kelly said her transformation from Fox News anchor to the host of “The Megyn Kelly Show” podcast, hasn’t been without its “bumps and bruises.”
Kelly’s broadcast story started in 2003 after she walked away from a legal career to become a reporter in Washington, D.C., when she was hired by the ABC affiliate WJLA-TV.
One year later Megyn would become a rising star at Fox News, first as a Capitol reporter and then eventually anchoring daytime programming on “America’s Newsroom” with Bill Hemmer in 2007.
Megyn moved from a co-anchor position to the host of her own primetime show on the network with “The Kelly File,” in October 2013. For the next four years, the show became one of most-watched programs in all of cable news. Kelly recently shared on her podcast that the “The Kelly File” was “the number one show in the demo in cable news” when she hosted it.
During her time at Fox News, Kelly was part of the network’s “New Year’s Eve” special and election coverage. She famously moderated the Republican Party Presidential debate in 2015 where things got heated between her and then-Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump after the Fox anchor asked whether or not a person with his “temperament” should be president.
In 2017, Kelly shocked viewers when she announced she was leaving Fox to go to NBC News where she would appear in the third hour of the “Today” show on a program called “Megyn Kelly Today” in September 2017.
On one of Megyn’s latest podcasts, she shot down the idea she was ever fired from Fox News and said, “to the contrary, I was offered a mega-deal by Fox News to stay,” as she explained why she ultimately left.

“And I decided to reject it because I was miserable,” the podcast host shared. “Putting aside the toxic lifestyle that comes with being in the primetime of cable news. Which I think is readily apparent to most people.”
“I was not seeing my children,” she added. “I wasn’t raising my own children and they were still very young. I hadn’t missed it all. They were 7, 5 and 3. So, I could still be very present for most of their childhood.”
Kelly said the reason she decided to leave Fox for NBC was to host a morning show that would allow her to be home the rest of the day.
“But I will tell you, two very powerful women whose name you would know…urged me not to go,” the former NBC News host said on the podcast, as she explained for her it wasn’t about politics or leaving a powerful post.
“And I couldn’t explain to them….it’s fine if it’s not for you,” the anchor said…”But I knew in my family I needed more. I needed to be with them. So now I found a way to do it all.”
Kelly said she really is now doing it all with the podcast show and said she has no plans of going back on TV, something she gets asked often about.
“And I tell them the truth, which is, I have no desire to do that [go back on TV],” Megyn shared on the podcast. “I love my life right now and it’s not like I didn’t get here without some bumps and bruises.”
She said she felt empty before because she wasn’t at home raising her three kids and now she’s “full again.”
During Kelly’s career some critics have tried to cancel her, but she’s still broadcasting today.
In 2015, Kelly highlighted a light-hearted Slate article by writer Aisha Harris titled, “Santa Claus Should Not Be a White Man Anymore.”
In October 2018, the host had a discussion on her NBC morning show about whether or not people should wear blackface for Halloween costumes. Megyn later apologized to her colleagues amid a backlash about her comments, per an internal NBC document later shared by a spokesperson at the network. Two days later her show was canceled. She’s since noted all the famous people who actually wore blackface in their career, something she’s said she’s never done. She left the network in January 2019.
In 2020, Kelly launched the creation of her own production company, “Devil May Care Media,” and the first show hit the air on September 28, 2020. A year later, she announced “The Megyn Kelly Show” podcast was moving to SiriusXM. Kelly’s show currently ranks among one of the top News Commentary podcasts in the United States.
She’s proven time and again that she’s not afraid to speak out against the mob mentality on everything from President Joe Biden’s handling of the economy to the changing narrative on the pandemic when it comes to masks, vaccines, and lockdowns.
Some of those shows that stand out include Kelly’s podcast on the ‘Great Barrington Declaration’ doctors in January 2021 (ep. 57), which her company told The Daily Wire, they were the first outlet to cover them. The company additionally shared that Kelly’s podcast was the first to explore the truth about COVID origins in the Wuhan lab in April 2021 (ep. 89).
Megyn’s also shown she’s not afraid to tackle gender identification being pushed on kids in school. It’s something she’s had a front row seat to, as she previously explained, that the Left pushing wokeism on her son led her family to leave New York City.
As for what’s next for Devil May Care Media, her company told The Daily Wire, “this year we’ll be introducing new elements to form deeper connections with our audience, and attract a whole new group of viewers and listeners.”
