Gisele Bündchen reflected on her divorce from NFL superstar Tom Brady after 13 years of marriage, saying she’s managed to move on even though “breakups are never easy.”
In a cover story for the August issue of Vogue Brazil, the 43-year-old supermodel discussed her mental health following reports last year that the couple was getting a divorce.
“I’ve always trusted that every situation, no matter how challenging, has something to teach us and happens for our growth,” Bündchen said.
“Breakups are never easy, especially when there’s a whole media speculating every step of the way,” she added. “I tried to focus on my children, my health and my projects and dreams.”

The retired Victoria’s Secret model also talked about this new phase in her life without Brady, Yahoo.com noted.
“Maturity has brought me a better acceptance and understanding of myself,” Bündchen told the outlet. “Today, I understand that health is my greatest wealth, it’s essential for me to have a happy life and energy to fulfill my dreams.”

In October, Brady confirmed reports that he and Bündchen were officially divorced after weeks of speculation. Bündchen and Brady share two kids together.
In a Vanity Fair article, the supermodel responded to rumors that Brady’s refusal to walk away from football had something to do with their split.
Bündchen said that she and Brady ended their 13 years of marriage because “sometimes you grow together; sometimes you grow apart.”
“When I was 26 years old and he was 29 years old, we met, we wanted a family, we wanted things together,” Bündchen said. “As time goes by, we realize that we just wanted different things, and now we have a choice to make.”
“That doesn’t mean you don’t love the person,” she added. “It just means that in order for you to be authentic and truly live the life that you want to live, you have to have somebody who can meet you in the middle, right? It’s a dance. It’s a balance.”
“When you love someone, you don’t put them in a jail and say, ‘You have to live this life,'” she continued. “You set them free to be who they are, and if you want to fly the same direction, then that’s amazing.”
