President Donald Trump addressed reporters on Tuesday in the White House where he appeared to walk back some of the comments he made during the Helsinki summit, saying that he misspoke.

“I have full faith and support for America’s great intelligence agencies,” Trump said. “Let me be totally clear in saying…I accept our intelligence community’s conclusion that Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election took place. Could be other people, also.”

Trump then clarified a comment he made during the press conference, saying, “In a key sentence in my remarks I said the word ‘would’ instead of ‘wouldn’t.’ The sentence should have been, ‘I don’t see any reason why I wouldn’t or why it wouldn’t be Russia.'”

Trump went on to say that his administration is “doing everything in our power to prevent Russian interference in 2018.”

“We have a lot of power and, as you know, Obama was given information just prior to the election, the last election 2016, and they decided not to do anything about it,” Trump continued.
