House Speaker Nancy Pelosi responded to President Donald Trump’s Wednesday letter to her that he would hold his State of the Union address as originally planned on January 29 by telling the president that she “will not consider a concurrent resolution authorizing” his address until he reopens the government.
Pelosi’s letter to Trump comes an hour after Trump told her in a letter that he would hold his State of the Union address as originally planned on January 29 after the Department of Homeland Security and the United States Secret Service informed him that there would be no issue with providing security for the event — which Pelosi tried to claim was reason for delaying the event.
