On Tuesday, North Korea announced that it has canceled a high-level meeting with South Korean leaders and has threatened to scrap the highly-anticipated meeting with President Donald Trump due to military drills that are taking place in South Korea.
Yonhap News Agency reports:
The North’s Korean Central News Agency said the Max Thunder drills between the South Korean and U.S. air forces are a rehearsal for invasion of the North and a provocation amid warming inter-Korean ties.
The talks between North Korea and South Korea were supposed to take place on Wednesday “on the southern side of the truce village of Panmunjom,” Yonhap reported.
Each nation had reportedly selected five delegates to attend the now-canceled meeting.
