BREAKING: Demi Lovato Rushed To Hospital After Suspected Overdose
Singer Demi Lovato was reportedly rushed to a hospital in Los Angeles on Tuesday following an apparent heroin overdose, according to law enforcement officials.
TMZ exclusively broke the news of the suspected drug overdose, reporting that law enforcement officials said that they had to treat Lovato with Narcan which is used in emergency opioid overdoses. TMZ reports:
Our sources say Demi was transported from a home in the Hollywood Hills just before noon Tuesday, and is currently being treated. We do not know her condition.
TMZ added that Lovato has struggled with substance abuse problems for years and recently released a song titled “Sober” where she revealed to her fans that she had relapsed into drug use.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) notes that approximately 80 percent of the heroin in the United States comes from Mexican drug cartels.
More than 175 Americans die every day from drug overdoses, according to a report from USA Today.
“This really is a national emergency,” said former Mississippi Attorney General Mike Moore. “The problem is we’re not acting like it is.”
Moore described the crisis as being the same as “a 737 crashing and killing all the passengers on board” every single day, noting that if that actually happened that “we’d shut the skies down until we figured out the problem.”
