Over a dozen people were shot near a funeral home in Chicago on Tuesday afternoon as a group of people left a funeral.

“People in a black vehicle opened fire on the group as they left the funeral, [First Deputy Supt. Eric Carter] said … at least 60 shell casings were found at the scene,” The Chicago Sun-Times reported. “Fourteen people were being treated at five area hospitals, Carter said. Police said their conditions were unknown, while Chicago fire officials said at least 11 of them were listed in serious-to-critical condition.”

The news comes after Chicago Democrat Mayor Lori Lightfoot tweeted: “Under no circumstances will I allow Donald Trump’s troops to come to Chicago and terrorize our residents.”

“Mr. President or not—I don’t care one bit what your name is,” Lightfoot added. “I will not allow troops in Chicago, and I will do everything in my power to stop you.”

“Our democracy is at stake, and I’ll be darned if I’m going to let anybody – even if their name is Mr. President – bring those kind of troops to our city and try to take on our residents,” Lightfoot claimed during an MSNBC on Monday night. “That’s not going to happen in Chicago. And I’m going to use every tool at my disposal to stop them.”

The Trump administration was reportedly planning on sending approximately 150 federal agents to Chicago to help battle the violence in the city.

“Chicago may see an influx of federal agents as soon as this week as President Donald Trump readies to make good on repeated pledges he would try to tamp down violence here,” the Chicago Tribune reported. “U.S. Department of Homeland Security, for example, is crafting plans to deploy about 150 federal agents to the city this week, the Chicago Tribune has learned.”

The Tribune added, “The Homeland Security Investigations, or HSI, agents are set to assist other federal law enforcement and Chicago police in crime-fighting efforts, according to sources familiar with the matter, though a specific plan on what the agents will be doing — and what their limits would be — had not been made public.”

President Donald Trump tweeted about Chicago on Sunday, writing, “The Radical Left Democrats, who totally control Biden, will destroy our Country as we know it. Unimaginably bad things would happen to America. Look at Portland, where the pols are just fine with 50 days of anarchy. We sent in help. Look at New York, Chicago, Philadelphia. NO!”

The news that the administration was planning on sending federal assistance to Chicago comes after the administration sent assistance to Portland to guard government buildings that were under attack by violent anarchists.

“The federal agents that were deployed to the city to stop the leftist violence are from the Border Patrol Tactical Unit, or BORTAC,” The Daily Wire reported. “ICE agents are also reportedly helping DHS’s Federal Protective Service, which protects federal buildings.”
