Thank you, John Boehner!
The ultimate establishment Republican and former Speaker of the House made it abundantly clear which GOP candidate was the 2016 establishment presidential candidate and which one was the anti-establishment candidate on Wednesday, calling Ted Cruz “Lucifer in the flesh,” and happily noting that Boehner and Donald Trump are “texting buddies.”
Joining leftist professor David M. Kennedy, who has skewered America before, Boehner stated obsequiously, “You can call me boner, beaner, jackass, happy to answer to almost anything.”
Boehner grimaced when asked about Cruz, then snapped, “Lucifer in the flesh. I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life.”
But of Trump, Boehner noted merrily that they have played golf together for years and that they were “texting buddies.” He also had kind remarks for john Kasich, allowing that he “requires more effort on my behalf than all my other friends … but he’s still my friend, and I love him.”
The rubber met the road when Boehner revealed he was a Never Cruz man, attesting that he would vote for Trump, but never Cruz.
How much of a traitor to the conservative movement is Boehner? Try this: he called Cruz “Lucifer,” but Bernie Sanders, who wants to turn the United States into a socialist state, and thus institute legalized thievery, was called a nice guy and the most honest politician in the race. Boehner called Hillary Clinton accomplished and smart.
In another rip on conservatives, Boehner consistently called the very conservative Freedom Caucus “knuckleheads” and “goofballs.”
Boehner was clear about his hatred for Cruz, but bragged that he and Barack Obama got along well. Why wouldn’t they? As Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert pointed out, when the omnibus bill which did not defund Obama’s executive amnesty came up for passage, Boehner did bother consulting conservatives before the vote because he “didn’t feel he was going to get our votes so he preferred to get Obama and Pelosi to get the votes for him. That tells you right there how bad this bill was. That tells you basically all you need to know.”
As The American Spectator noted of Boehner’s budget deals with Obama, “Boehner finally got some of what he wanted in the 2013 budget deal, which blew through the spending caps by trading spending increases for promised cuts down the road. Of course, conservatives realize that Washington never delivers on these promises, and Americans are left with more debt.” The Spectator noted of the 2015 deal, “The Obama-Boehner budget is an even worse sellout. This latest deal busts through the spending caps to the tune of $80 billion, not including the $16 billion in off-budget spending, and gives Obama a blank check to increase the national debt. The spending offsets in the deal are little more than budgetary gimmicks.”

Boehner aptly summed up his career this way, boasting, “I think my proudest accomplishment is walking out of there the same jackass I was 25 years before.”
