<p>The Biden-Harris administration proposed a new rule that would allow illegal immigrants to access taxpayer-funded college preparatory programs that were meant to assist low-income American citizens.</p>
<p>The new proposed rule from the Biden-Harris Department of Education would allow illegal immigrants who qualify for the Deferred Action Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA) to access <a href="https://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ope/trio/index.html">federal TRIO programs</a> targeted to serve and assist low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to post-baccalaureate programs.</p>
<p>“The proposed changes would expand eligibility to include students without immigration status,” the <a href="https://www.ed.gov/news/press-releases/biden-harris-administration-releases-proposed-regulations-increase-college-access-and-quality-and-strengthen-oversight-distance-education">proposed rule</a> from the Biden-Harris administration states.</p>
<p>Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) blasted the proposed rule from the Democratic administration, noting that it would allow illegal immigrants to take the spots of American citizens.</p>
<p>“The Biden-Harris administration’s proposal would take college preparatory aid away from American citizens and give it to illegal aliens,” Banks <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2024/07/26/biden-harris-issues-proposed-rule-to-get-illegals-into-college-prep-programs/">stated</a>. “Instead of waiting until 2025 for this America Last policy to be reversed, House Republicans should pass my bill to protect working American families’ access to college aid,” he also went on to say, referencing his piece of <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2024/04/15/exclusive-jim-banks-introduces-american-students-first-act-to-stop-joe-biden-from-expanding-college-prep-programs-to-illegal-aliens/">legislation</a> called the American Students First Act that would prevent the taxpayer-funded program from being used by illegal immigrants.</p>
<p>Virginia Foxx (R-NC), who serves as the Chairwoman of the House Education and Workforce Committee, also criticized the proposed rule, contending that the Biden-Harris administration would be “siphoning resources away from low-income American citizens.”</p>
<p>“There’s a laundry list of problems facing students and postsecondary education today: Costs are soaring, the FAFSA rollout has been butchered, anti-semitism is running rampant across college campuses, just to name a few,” Foxx stated. “But what is the Biden administration focused on? Siphoning resources away from low-income American citizens by stretching college-prep programs thin to cover illegal immigrants.”</p>
<p>The attempt to divert taxpayer funds to illegal immigrants comes as the Biden-Harris administration has presided over the largest surge in illegal immigration in American history.  More than <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/2455010/illegal-border-crossers-total-over-10-million-since-biden-inauguration/">10 million</a> people have unlawfully crossed the border during the administration, with an estimated <a href="https://cis.org/Arthur/Blockbuster-House-Report-Reveals-How-Badly-Bidens-Broken-Our-Immigration-System">1.7 million illegal immigrant gotaways recorded</a> since January 2021.</p>
<p>Public opinion survey has found that an increasing share of Americans are in favor of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/majority-of-americans-want-fewer-immigrants-poll-finds">slashing immigration</a> and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/majority-of-americans-support-building-border-wall-increasing-deportations-penalizing-businesses-that-hire-illegal-immigrants">ramping up mass deportations</a>, while illegal immigration has become one of the most important issues for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/voters-say-immigration-is-top-issue-facing-country-biden-faces-widespread-disapproval-on-immigration">voters</a> as we near the November election.</p>
