This Is The Best Wildlife Segment of Television Ever

The BBC series Planet Earth just aired part two, and the internet is going nuts over this incredible scene involving a baby iguana having a very rough day.

In the clip (below), a marine iguana hatchling finds himself surrounded entirely by snakes intent on making him their lunchtime meal, but this little fella wasn’t going down that easily:

The scene begins with the iguana escaping one large snake, only to find himself plopped down in front of dozens more — not unlike Indiana Jones in the iconic sequence from Raiders of the Lost Ark. As the snakes converge, the iguana makes a break for higher ground, when suddenly he is snagged and wrapped up in a coil. He struggles to get free as the snake’s body tightens its grip, and just in the nick of time, slips away up the rocky edge. But he’s not out of harm’s way yet, as a few more snakes do their best to follow and lunge after their prey as he makes his way to the top of the porous boulders. Amazing.

The episode’s editor, Matthew Meech, told The Independent, “I’m a bit of a movie fanatic, so I kind of pick things up from all over the place — big Hitchcock fan, Christopher Nolan, Scorsese Spielberg etc,” adding, “One of the amazing things about the encounter was that it was shot at such a high speed. So in real life those things are moving much, much faster. It’s incredibly hard to film them while running and keep everything in focus. But sometimes the focus didn’t matter as the moment was so intense. The music and sound design was obviously a big part of it too. The work everyone did was amazing.”

Thankfully, the internet knew that though the sound design was well done, there was a more appropriate soundtrack waiting to be applied: The NFL Primetime music…

We knew that iguana looked familiar:
