Students at Albion College, a private liberal arts college in Michigan, were so threatened by Ben Shapiro’s views on racial and economic equality that 100 students and faculty members gathered on Monday in protest and sang “Kumbaya.”
The protest at Albion College, which Shapiro has never visited, started after the Albion College Conservatives shared a Google Doc with its members that included talking points from Shapiro that were meant to highlight conservative views for an upcoming debate on white privilege and institutional racism, The Albion Pleiad reported.
Student protesters affiliated with black, Latino, and LGBT groups said they risked their lives every day by going to college and called the document “racist and violent.”
“What people don’t realize is that when people are black on this campus, if you are queer on this campus, if you are undocumented on this campus, and life in general, you risk life every day,” Khalifaziz Birden, the president of Black Student Alliance (BSA) said. “That is not a hyperbole.”
So what supposedly “racist and violent” talking points from Shapiro did the document contain?
“Statistical disparity does NOT mean discrimination,” “The only color that capitalism cares about is green. Not black, white, or what have you,” and “Liberals will make up their own subjective truths to their own convenience to prove you wrong. Their personal truths are not THE truth. There is only the truth and bullshit,” the Washington Free Beacon noted.
The Free Beacon added that one point in the document that triggered students was not from Shapiro but supposedly written by a student at the college. “Take the liberal tears from the idiot you just destroyed in your debate, dissemble your American made Springfield M1911 .45 caliber handgun and apply the tears in order to clean the mechanism, reassemble and proceed to purchase Antifa and ISIS hunting permits and max out on tags.”
The ridiculous protest blocked free-flowing movement in certain areas on campus as protesters held up signs and blocked students from eating lunch.
“Whenever a major racial or otherwise bigoted event occurs on this campus, we get together, we hold hands, we sing Kumbaya,” said Birden. “We do not discuss it again, we do not hold the people in our circles accountable for it.”
College administrators were so upset over the Google Doc that they plan to launch an investigation into the document.
“According to Albion College President Mauri Ditzler, an investigation will be held to determine the extent in which the document was sanctioned or endorsed by the College Conservatives,” The Albion Pleiad added. “President Mauri Ditzler, holding a sign of his own at the demonstration, said it was an ‘ongoing question’ but was aware that the Conservatives disapproved of the message.”
Fortunately for the students at Albion College, Shapiro is not planning on visiting any time soon.
