Fans were worked up for a new version of an Ariana Grande song that was promoted by an X account, but that excitement turned to disappointment for some when they discovered only two lines had changed.
The post that caused a commotion said the “naughty version” of “Santa Tell Me” would be added to her “Christmas & Chill” album on streaming services. It was shared on Sunday on X by Ariana Grande Today, which describes itself as “the #1 fan source for the latest Ariana Grande news.”

Fans began listening to the track, but many headed to social media asking if something went wrong with the release because the song sounded like Grande’s original version of “Santa Tell Me,” which debuted in 2014. Listeners figured out that the only change in the new “naughty version” was two lines of the bridge.
The 30-year-old Grammy Award-winner changed the lines, “Oh, I wanna have him beside me, like oh-woo-oh / On the 25th, by that fireplace, oh-woo-oh.” In the new 2023 version, those lines say, “Oh, I wanna let him unwrap me, like oh-woo-oh / Get on top of him, by that fireplace, oh-woo-oh.”
Fans expressed their confusion and frustration on social media.

“She literally changed two lines,” one listener observed.
A second person wrote, “It’s two line changes in the bridge and an extended outro and that’s it.”
“Nothing changes expect [sic] 2 lines of the bridge.. but might be a great streaming strategy, let’s see,” a third account replied.
Some fans saw this song version as being the result of having a new manager, Brandon Creed. This new development in the singer’s career was announced on Monday. Grande had previously been partnered with Scooter Braun until publicly announcing they were parting ways in August.
Grande has been working on the movie version of the hit Broadway musical “Wicked,” and recently sent fans into a frenzy when she shared photos of herself in a recording studio, which they understood to mean that she’d be releasing new music soon.
