On Tuesday, the National Rifle Association (NRA) posted a video honoring American police on #LawEnforcementAppreciationDay.
The goal of the video was to urge NRA members and followers to donate their cars to law enforcement.
Predictably, Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts used the occasion to attack the NRA with this tweet:
But Watts’ argument falls flat; the NRA has supported Sen. John Cornyn’s (R-TX) bill that would improve the National Instant Background Check System (NICS) by directing agencies and states to report their crimes to the FBI.
Watts’ remarks in the face of a video honoring the men and women who put their lives on the line every day triggered some angry responses on Twitter, including:
