Two pilots and the driver of a pickup truck barely escaped injury after a small plane clipped the truck during an emergency landing on a busy Florida highway.

Around noon on Saturday, a Cessna 172D Skyhawk experienced a mechanical problem that forced the pilots to land the plane in North Fort Myers near Interstate 75.

Video from the road shows the plane’s wing catching the back of a pickup truck after its wheels hit the road at high speed. The plane was able to maintain its trajectory and rolled safely down the busy road.

Another truck driver on I-75 told WGCU he had to take evasive maneuvers to avoid the rapidly descending plane.

“It landed probably 20, maybe 30 feet behind the truck and trailer I was driving,” Brandon Hinson, who was driving a truck and trailer down the affected road, told the outlet.

Hinson said that after he saw the plane coming down at an angle, he sped up to stay in front of the aircraft as it hit the other truck in the far-left lane and bounced into the middle turn lanes. He added that he was “blessed” that the pilot was skilled enough to land the plane “without any other incident.”

“Thankfully, this incident had a positive outcome, and no one was injured,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said. “Given the recent tragic news involving aviation accidents, we are especially grateful that everyone is safe.”

The sheriff’s office confirmed the Federal Aviation Administration will lead the investigation, and state and federal crews have successfully moved the plane and reopened I-75.

Authorities have not revealed information regarding the nature of the mechanical failure and have not provided the identities of the pilots or truck driver.

The downed plane had been in the air for 50 minutes after taking off from a private airport in Central Florida, according to flight tracking data cited by the New York Post.

This latest close call came less than a week after a private jet slammed into the ground in a massive fireball near a mobile home park in South Florida — killing all nine people on board instantly, The Daily Wire previously reported.

Air traffic control audio of the crash painted a terrifying picture of the final moments aboard the private jet, which plummeted to the ground at an estimated 20,000 feet per minute.

The recording captures the crew frantically warning controllers that they were rapidly losing control of the aircraft. The final transmission was chilling: “Holy f*ck, we’re out of time!”

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed that everyone on the jet was killed and said the Federal Aviation Administration “is sending a team to the scene to support the @NTSB’s investigation.”
