On Tuesday night’s live episode of America’s Got Talent, one act almost went from a duo to a solo when a flaming arrow missed the target and hit the performer in the neck.
Ryan Stock & Amberlynn are an act that specialize in “stupid human tricks” and “super human stunts,” and this crowd stunner was supposed to be the highlight of the night.
While performing the routine, Stock swallowed a sword with a target disc on the end sticking out of his mouth. He leaned forward for Amberlynn his partner to take aim with her crossbow cocked and ready with a flaming arrow. She pulled the trigger and to the judges and crowd’s horror, missed the target — hitting Stock’s neck instead.
Luckily for Stock, amazingly, other than shock, embarrassment, and a probably a bruise, he didn’t appear to be that hurt. The flame burst, that most likely singed a few of hairs, happened when the arrow hit the collar of his shirt.
“I’m okay, it got my shirt, I’m okay,” a visibly shaken Stock assured the concerned judges’ panel.
“Listen, um, I don’t think you are,” judge Howie Mandel told him, adding. “I think what you do is wonderfully horrific but that’s the first time you missed.”
Stock affirmed, “That’s the first time we’ve ever missed it.”
Mandel insisted that, “Yeah, and you are in pain. And I would imagine that after we finish judging you are going right to an EMT. Am I correct?”
“No,” Stock told him, insisting that he was fine, but Howie wasn’t having it.
“We have to be responsible here, you are hurt…” he said. “I think what you did is wonderful and I think you did it to win this. I think you deserve votes. I think the fact that you’re willing to do this, we gotta vote for you but the audience just saw what could happen (and) I hate that I saw what could happen.”
Judge Heidi Klum tweeted afterwards saying:
