Former Vice President Al Gore is back (again) and he’s got a message for President Trump: Resign!
“My only message would be resign,” Gore told Fox 11 Los Angeles during an interview. “I don’t mean to be flippant about this,” he added.
Gore criticized Trump over climate change. “I think everyone knows to discount what this current administration is doing and saying. They’ve made the EPA the CPA — the Coal Production Agency — instead of protecting the environment,” he said, referring to the Environmental Protection Agency.
Gore called so-called global warming “a global emergency. It truly is! Look at the temperatures going to record levels, look at the fires!”
“Don’t take it from me. You don’t even have to take it from me or even have to take it from the scientists, who are virtually unanimous, take it from Mother Nature! Every night on the TV is like a nature hike through the Book of Revelation,” he said.
Bill Clinton’s vice president said he met with then President-elect Trump during the president transition, but Trump hasn’t followed through on Gore’s suggestions. “I don’t think he’s prepared to listen to advice about the importance of clean air and clean water,” he said.
Gore said, “As significant as it is to change the light bulbs, it’s way more significant to change the laws and policies. We need to put a price on carbon, we need to conserve energy, we need to switch over to renewable types of electricity.”
Gore has called on Trump to resign before. And he has also said before that Americans are up in arms about climate change.
“What we are seeing in the United States of America today is the biggest upsurge of activism in favor of the climate that we have ever experienced. And it’s in reaction to what President Trump has said,” he said in a SiriusXM/Variety Magazine town hall interview. “And we are seeing the same thing around the world — the other countries have doubled down on their commitment.”
