After 2 Trump Assassination Attempts, Media Hypes ‘Gunfire’ Incident At Dem Campaign Office

Barely a week after a man tried to assassinate former President Donald Trump, the media is trying to pump up a story about “gunfire” at a Democrat campaign office in Tempe, Arizona.

“Shots fired into Kamala Harris’ Arizona campaign office …” the New York Post headline read. “Police investigate apparent gunfire incident at Harris’ Arizona campaign office,” read NBC News’ headline. “Gunshots Fired Into Harris Campaign Office in Arizona,” blared The Daily Beast, while The Hill went with a similar “Gunfire damages Harris campaign office in Arizona.”

The opening paragraphs of the articles were equally fear-inducing.

Phrases like “gunfire damage” and “damage from gunfire” were used, suggesting a dangerous weapon was used to send a message to Vice President Kamala Harris. The stories likened the vandalism to the two actual assassination attempts on Trump’s life – the first of which included a bullet hitting Trump’s ear during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.

The stories did note early on that no one was inside the office when the damage occurred – sometime after midnight Monday.

“No one was inside the office during the overnight hours, but this raises concerns about the safety of those who work in that building, as well as those nearby,” Tempe Police Department public information officer Sgt. Ryan Cook told the Post.

One had to look further down in most articles to find out that the “gunfire” actually came from what appeared to be a BB gun or pellet gun, hardly a comparison to what Trump has faced in the past few months.

The incident at the Tempe Democrat campaign office is the second act of vandalism committed at the office in the past two weeks, and police are treating it as a property crime, the Associated Press reported. The first incident occurred on September 16 and also involved a BB or pellet gun. No arrests have been made in either incident, and no motive is known at this time.

“We are grateful to Tempe Police for coming quickly to the scene and are fortunate no one was present or injured,” Sean McEnerney, the Arizona Democratic Party coordinated campaign manager, told the AP.

On July 13, Trump was holding a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when 20-year-old Thomas Crooks fired multiple shots, injuring Trump and killing a rallygoer. A Senate report released this week revealed that the Secret Service had been made aware of a “credible” threat to Trump just days before the rally, The Daily Wire reported.

On September 15, Democrat donor Ryan Routh allegedly attempted to assassinate Trump while he golfed in Florida. He has been charged with attempted assassination, The Daily Wire reported.
