Actress Shamed For Breaking #TimesUp Golden Globes Dress Code — In Two Different Ways

   DailyWire.com

On a red carpet turned black on Sunday, as participants in the Golden Globes embraced the #MeToo-inspired #TimesUp movement, one actress stood out in a way many of the movement’s supporters did not appreciate. Actress Blanca Blanco defied the unofficial all black dress code — but that wasn’t her only code violation.

Here is Blanco arriving at the awards ceremony.

Blanco has gotten shamed by #MeToo supporters online — and as Yahoo notes, perhaps on the red carpet itself — not only for wearing the wrong color, but for wearing a dress they say sets the movement back by being too sexy.

“It’s ok to disagree with the #MeToo movement, nevertheless wearing a dress like this when women are asking to heard not just seen is so appalling,” wrote one follower. “I just wish she would’ve picked a better dress if we gonna rebel. Aren’t we tired of this brand of sexy? Because I am,” wrote another. “She shamed women tonight with her outfit!” another person posted. “The red siren dress worked for Oprah at her Legends Ball. Not so much for you. This wasn’t smart or nice to the women who have suffered abuse and exploitation. This wasn’t the time for a publicity stunt you ninny,” added another.

Some, however, have defended the actress for refusing to “conform” and thinking for herself instead of “following the flock.”

Though she’s getting hammered for not being in lock step with the Times Up movement, Blanco’s IMDB page describes her as an activist for a variety of other causes:

Blanca’s passion for helping those experiencing poverty has influenced her many humanitarian efforts becoming an active supporter of many organizations including; the Salvation Army, Autism Speaks, AIDS society, and the American Cancer Society. She is also an expert in End of Life Issues becoming a community leader in education for Death and Dying, Terminal Care.
