Marvel star Jonathan Majors spoke out for the first time since a New York jury in December found him guilty of reckless assault and harassment of his ex-girlfriend.
Last month, a jury found the “Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania” star guilty of two misdemeanor assault counts and acquitted him of an assault and aggravated assault charge. The charges stem from an altercation in Manhattan between him and his ex.
During the 34-year-old actor’s interview broadcast Monday on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Majors said he “felt like it was time” to tell his side of the story following a domestic dispute with his ex-Grace Jabbari, adding that “a lot has happened” in his “personal life” and “career.”
Majors denied he physically assaulted Jabbari when asked if he was responsible for any of her injuries, a fractured finger and cut behind her ear.
“I was reckless with her heart, not with her body,” Majors replied. “I should have been brave. I should have said, ‘No, this isn’t working.’ And I should have walked away, and I didn’t…If I leave the relationship, none of this is happening.”
When pressed about how Jabbari got the injuries, Majors said he had no idea.
“I wish to God I knew,” Majors said. “That would give clarity. That would give me some type of peace about it. [I] never hit a woman. My hands have never struck a woman, ever.”
Majors said despite everything that’s happened, he’s blessed with a supportive family and a loving girlfriend, actress Meagan Good, who he called an “angel.”
“I’m surrounded by people who love me, who care about me,” Major said, People magazine noted.
Following the reading of the verdict last month, Major’s attorney Priya Chaudhry, released a statement on the actor’s behalf.

“It is clear that the jury did not believe Grace Jabbari’s story of what happened in the SUV because they found that Mr. Majors did not intentionally cause any injuries to her,” the statement read.
“We are grateful for that,” the statement added. “We are disappointed, however, that despite not believing Ms. Jabbari, the jury nevertheless found that Mr. Majors was somehow reckless while she was attacking him.”
“Mr. Majors is grateful to God, his family, his friends, and his fans for their love and support during these harrowing eight months,” the statement continued. “Mr. Majors still has faith in the process and looks forward to fully clearing his name.”
Majors is due back in court on February 6 for sentencing. Multiple reports indicate that the actor could face up to about a year in prison.
