Last week comedian Chelsea Handler said that she should be “applauded” for getting two abortions. She was going to be a “bad” parent anyway, so why shouldn’t she get praise for killing off her two babies before they had an opportunity to leave her womb?
In an essay for Playboy Magazine entitled “My Choice,” Handler reveals that she became pregnant at the young age of 16 when she and her boyfriend were having unprotected sex. Upon learning of the pregnancy, she fantasized about possibly having twins and giving them rhyming names; she wanted the baby.
"[W]hen I got pregnant I just thought, Why not? I can have a baby," recounts Handler. "Maybe I’ll have twins and give them rhyming names!"
But, sadly, Handler was pressured by her parents to abort the child, and, with no support to keep the baby she says she wanted, she went through it.
“[My parents] acted like parents for one of the very first times in my life and took me to Planned Parenthood," she writes, in a quote as revealing as it is ironic. "I felt parented, ironically, while I was getting an abortion. And when it was over, I was relieved in every possible way."
Handler then brags about getting another abortion that same year, calling her choice to kill another baby in her womb as a "thoughtful decision." She also recalls this second abortion costing her a whopping $230 from the highly profitable "non-profit" abortion mill Planned Parenthood.
And I didn’t have just one abortion; I had two in the same year, impregnated by the same guy. I didn’t have the money the second time. I had to scrape together the $230 to pay Planned Parenthood, but it was a safe abortion. Getting unintentionally pregnant more than once is irresponsible, but it’s still necessary to make a thoughtful decision.
The comedian claims that she’s never felt remorse or regret over the abortions: “I don’t ever look back and think, God, I wish I’d had that baby."
The photo atop the essay adds to this sentiment: a hand with a pink ribbon tied around her middle finger, for obvious reason, with a tag that reads, “It’s an abortion!”
Another image that appears within the essay is a photo of a cake that says "Happy Abortion Rights," a celebration of the Roe v. Wade decision.
But it gets worse. Handler actually demands that she be applauded for murdering her two babies in the womb: “Anybody who carefully decides not to become a parent—let alone a bad parent, which is what I would have become—should be applauded for making a smart and sustainable decision,” she declares.
In closing, the comedian pulls the anti-science claim that the babies inside her womb were somehow "her body."
"I’d love for somebody to try to tell me what to do with my body. I dare them," she threatens.
