SO? Michelle Obama Says Melania Trump Never Asked Her For Advice

File this under, “Who cares?”

Former First Lady Michelle Obama complained to ABC News on Sunday that current First Lady Melania Trump hasn’t reached out for advice, even though she extended the offer.

Obama said Former First Lady Laura Bush had extended the same offer to her in 2008 when she was the incoming first lady, but didn’t say whether she had sought advice from Bush once she was in office.

Obama and Trump met after the election and toured the White House together, just as Obama and Bush did in 2008.

So, it’s unclear what more Trump was supposed to have done. Somehow I don’t think Michelle Obama was regularly reaching out to Laura Bush during her husband’s presidency for advice.

In a statement to the Washington Examiner, Trump’s communications director Stephanie Grisham explained why the current first lady hasn’t reached out.

"Mrs. Trump is a strong and independent woman who has been navigating her role as first lady in her own way,” Grisham said. “When she needs advice on any issue, she seeks it from her professional team within the White House."

Trump doesn’t even want to be in the spotlight, unlike Obama, who has a memoir coming out bashing President Donald Trump. Obama also told ABC she would (publicly) reserve judgment of how Melania Trump is doing as first lady.

“You know, one of the things you learn as a former, it's, like, I don't judge what a current is doing, you know? So, I'd prefer not to, you know, speak on what she's doing versus what I did because I think every first lady approaches this job differently,” she said.

One wonders, then, what she’s saying privately about Mrs. Trump.

What advice is Obama able to give Trump? The left-leaning media adored the Obamas. They’re still being put on magazine covers. Trump has been on just a few covers, and isn’t given the glowing reviews reserved for Obama.

Obama didn’t have to deal with the rigors of media scorn like Trump. The two women are focusing on different issues, and Trump isn’t as media-hungry as Obama was.

Why should Trump reach out to a woman who has made it clear she hates her husband, the current president? Maybe if Trump needs advice on how to ruin school lunches, she’ll turn to Obama, but other than that, the former first lady has nothing to offer.
