A Democratic candidate for the House of Representatives in Colorado with a novel solution for stopping school shootings decided to show exactly how it would work — on himself, in one of the most unintentionally hilarious ads ever put on social media.
Levi Tillemann, running against Jason Crow in the June 26 Democratic primary for the right to square off against incumbent GOP Rep. Mike Coffman, believes the best way to stop school shootings is to arm schools and teachers — with pepper spray.
Thus, in his attempt to show how effective such a strategy would be, Tilleman intentionally had himself pepper-sprayed in the campaign ad, putting himself in tremendous, swollen-eyed pain.
Tilleman begins by stating, “Washington needs more doers and innovators. That’s why I’m running for U.S. Congress. I’m calling on Congress to stop talking past each other and try something new.”
So far, so good. He continues, “Empower schools and teachers with non-lethal self-defense tools.” (He reaches for something off-screen) “Like this can of pepper spray.”
Tilleman states, “Pepper spray doesn’t cost much, and it can be safely stored in a break-glass in case an emergency happens. But it’s powerful, and won’t accidentally kill a kid. Trust me: this will stop anyone in their tracks.”
He closes his eyes.
He does. Dramatic music plays as Tillemann, sprayed in the face, slams his head into a tub filled with soapy water to save himself from agony.
As Allah Pundit at HotAir points out, “As for the policy he’s proposing, how do you get close enough to a school shooter to pepper-spray him in the eyes when he’s firing at you with an AR-15? Is Tillemann thinking of loading up super-soakers and posting them above classroom doors, just in case?”
