On Monday, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) reaffirmed her belief in a statement that she made last year when she said that former FBI director James Comey has "no credibility," but this time she added a qualifier — she believes him when he trashes President Donald Trump.
Appearing on MSNBC's "All In," host Chris Hayes replayed Waters' comments from January 13, 2017, when she asserted with anger “the FBI director has no credibility.”
Hayes pointed out that she agrees with Trump on this issue as he has also stated that Comey does not have any credibility, which led Waters to quickly clarify her thoughts.
“I tried to clarify that, and to say, yes, coming out of that classified briefing, I said that, and I certainly meant it," Waters responded.
"However, I think it is quite different when you take a look at Comey and his relationship to the president, what he said, what he’s done. I believe him,” Waters continued. “I believe him, yes. And so, then was then, and now is now.”
