PELOSI GOES BALLISTIC: Claims Conspiracy Theory, Demands Devin Nunes Be Stopped

"House Republicans’ pattern of obstruction and cover-up to hide the truth about the Trump-Russia scandal ..."

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) demanded on Thursday that House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) remove Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, saying that he "disgraced" the committee with his actions.

Pelosi's letter came one day after Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) accused Nunes of "secretly altering" the memo after the committee voted to release it and claimed it had "profound distortions and inaccuracies" — despite conflicting reports from senior FBI officials that they "could not point to any factual inaccuracies." Pelosi wrote:

Chairman Nunes’ deliberately dishonest actions make him unfit to serve as Chairman, and he must be immediately removed from this position. … House Republicans’ pattern of obstruction and cover-up to hide the truth about the Trump-Russia scandal represents a threat to our intelligence and our national security. … It is long overdue that you, as Speaker, put an end to this charade and hold Chairman Nunes and all Congressional Republicans accountable to the oath they have taken to support and defend the Constitution, and protect the American people.

Byron York, chief political correspondent for the Washington Examiner, indicated on Wednesday that the changes made to the memo were requested by the Democrats and the FBI.

Pelosi's assertion that Republicans are involved in a cover-up is nothing short of a conspiracy theory, as there is little to no proof to back up this notion. The Democrats have demanded complete transparency in Mueller's investigation into alleged ties between Trump campaign officials and members of the Russian government except for when it came to revealing that they were the ones who financed the unverified anti-Trump dossier. The memo is thought to show that this politically-motivated document produced by the Democrats was used in some capacity to obtain a FISA warrant to spy on the Trump campaign, which led to the current investigation that anti-Trump FBI agent Peter Strzok hinted was an impeachment investigation.
