A slew of Hollywood elites — all of them members of the the "One Percent" Club — will hold their own “People’s State of the Union” the night before President Donald Trump delivers his first address to a join session of Congress.
Slated to perform, er, attend, the Manhattan event are filmmaker Michael Moore, actors Mark Ruffalo, Alyssa Milano, Rosie Perez and Whoopi Goldberg. Comedian Wanda Sykes and actress Kathy Najimy are also scheduled to speak, and singer Andra Day and rapper Common will perform.
"In essence, it's a better reflection of our state of the union based on a more populist point of view, based on the people’s point of view," Ruffalo told People magazine. "I think it’s important because we have a president who has a difficult time with the truth, who has a radical, divisive agenda, and spends an enormous amount of time focusing on the negative and hopelessness and despair.”
Yes, the "people's point of view" will be delivered by multi-millionaires who live in mansions guarded by walls, or in million-dollar apartments on the Upper West Side. Sounds about right.
The event will be held at the Town Hall, a building where suffragists met in the 1920s. Tickets are going for $47 each.

OVERVIEW: On Tuesday night (6pm PST/9pm EST), Donald Trump will deliver his SOTU address. #StateOfTheDream will highlight what truly makes America great: that we come from many places, races and creeds, and together work for a more perfect union.
Our digital #StateOfTheDream address will support our dreamers and immigrants, call for a DREAM Act, lean into the Senate, fundraise for United We Dream, and express our vision for a more inclusive, progressive America.
We will provide a social media toolkit closer to the 30th, but we also invite you create a brief (60 seconds or less) video describing your dream for America: What you hope for. What inspires YOU. (We especially encourage those running for office and those already serving to do so!). All videos should be posted simultaneously at 6pm PST/9pm EST with the hashtag #StateOfTheDream on all of your social channels. After the video blast, you can proceed to post tweets from the toolkit or your own messaging. We just ask that you continue the unifying tweetstorm with the #StateOfTheDream hashtag.
WHEN: Tuesday, January 30th at 6pm PST/9pm EST
WHAT: #StateOfTheDream initiative
WHO: Members of The Resistance, elected officials, those running for office, any and all Americans who want to use their voices for positive change! Love IS louder.
The Trump-bashing event has been planned by organizers of the Women’s March, Planned Parenthood, We Stand United, MoveOn.org and Stand Up America.
Said Ruffalo, “We want to celebrate this moment that we’re in of what is now probably one of the most influential and powerful and really beautiful movements to come into play in the United States since the civil rights movement." Ruffalo also said the event will be “a celebration of the power and the beauty of this movement, but also of our accomplishments and to focus on what’s to come in the immediate future.”
The event will be livestreamed online at peoplessotu.org.
Moore, who has become increasingly unhinged, said on Saturday, “Donald J. Trump has proven himself to be completely unfit for office, a threat to our country, and an imminent danger to the world. He is not well; he is a malignant narcissist and an active sociopath. And because he holds the codes to fire nuclear weapons, he is a singular threat to humanity."
Then in his post for MoveOn.org, Moore asks for money.
