If time should be running out for anyone in this country, it's the leaders of abortion conglomerate Planned Parenthood. Nebraska Gov. Pete Rickets is helping to facilitate that time shortage by cutting off taxpayer funds to the organization in his state.
According to LifeNews, Gov. Rickets' "budget proposal would revise the way Title X funds are distributed and disqualify groups that provide abortions."
Announcing his budget plan, Ricketts proudly heralded Nebraska a pro-life state that will commit to protecting the unborn.
“Nebraska is a pro-life state, and the state’s budget should reflect those values,” Ricketts said. “This year, I am recommending that the legislature revise the state’s distribution of federal Title X healthcare funds to ensure that no funds are used to subsidize abortion. Thanks to action by Congress, Nebraska can now take new steps to protect unborn life by ensuring that these dollars are not used to fund abortion.”
The move comes thanks in part to President Trump, who signed into law an initiative allowing for states to defund Planned Parenthood. Conversely, Trump's predecessor, President Obama, ruled that states must fund Planned Parenthood and other abortion groups; Hillary would have done the same.
Feminists who decry that women will be denied medical attention at a low-cost are just blowing smoke. As is true of every other state who defunds Planned Parenthood, the tax dollars will go to "county health departments, community health centers and other types of providers," according to LifeNews.
Prior to the change, Planned Parenthood and other abortion clinics collected 50% of the state's Title X funds. In 2015, a Nebraska newspaper reported that the state's Planned Parenthood clinics pocket a grand total of $90,000 in taxpayer dollars, roughly 11 to 18% of the organization's total funds in the state.
Aside from the moral quagmire of funding Planned Parenthood with taxpayer dollars, a recent survey found that community health centers actually provide better service and more comprehensive care.
Indeed, Planned Parenthood's own annual report from 2017 also showed that services for prenatal care and contraception have declined while abortion remains steady. Abortions, taxpayer dollars, and big donations from celebrities are the organization's biggest revenue stream.
