After Chelsea Clinton turned heads earlier this week by wishing The Church of Satan a "Happy New Year," the former first daughter cleared up confusion regarding her worship habits via Twitter's most Woke account: Satan is not her guy.
The debate was sparked on Tuesday when Clinton was caught up in a Twitter thread with, oddly, model Chrissy Teigen, the fine dining restaurant Hooters, and, yes, The Church of Satan. During the exchange, Clinton wished the official account for Satan worshipers a "Happy New Year."
Soon, backlash and snarky commentary began pouring in online, triggering Clinton to react.
"At least [Chelsea Clinton] is open about worshiping Satan," wrote one snarky Twitter user. "If only [Hillary Clinton] could be as honest."
"Oh goodness gracious," replied Clinton. "We can be civil, cheerful, respectful to & friends with people who don’t share our religious beliefs. Sometimes, we even marry them. I’m a Methodist & my husband is Jewish, thank you for asking. A very happy New Year to you Rhonda!"
Clinton was not always a Methodist, though. As you might recall, the former first daughter once boasted about leaving a Baptist church when she was six because they were not pro-abortion.
“I was raised in a Methodist church and I left the Baptist church before my dad did, because I didn’t know why they were talking to me about abortion when I was 6 in Sunday school — that’s a true story," she said in 2016.
That was one "woke" six-year-old. She must have real upstanding parents.
