UPDATE: At least 51 bodies, including 15 children, have been recovered from the flooding that started on Friday in Texas.
Meteorologists say it was once-in-100-years rainfall in a very flash flood-prone area. The Guadalupe River reportedly rose 26 feet in just 45 minutes.
Rescue efforts are still underway for those missing, including 27 girls from Camp Mystic, a private Christian all-girls camp along the Guadalupe River.

UPDATE: The record-breaking flooding in Texas has already claimed 43 lives, Texas officials confirmed on Saturday evening.

Additionally, officials have revealed more details about the flooding near Camp Mystic, a private all-girls Christian camp located near the Guadalupe River. Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said the camp was packed with 750 girls, and young camp counselors helped usher hundreds of girls to safety during the night. &#8220;There was heroism, yesterday, everywhere,&#8221; he said.
&#8220;We&#8217;re not gonna give up looking for them,&#8221; Patrick added, noting that 27 girls are still missing.

UPDATE: Texas officials on Saturday afternoon confirmed that 32 people have been confirmed dead from the dangerous flooding in Texas. Fourteen of the victims have been identified as children.
Five bodies of the recovered adults and three children remain unidentified, officials said.

The number of fatalities is expected to rise.
UPDATE: At least 27 girls from a Christian summer camp called Camp Mystic are still unaccounted for after record-breaking flooding in Texas, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/07/05/us/texas-floods">according</a> to The New York Times. The initial estimate of missing girls hovered somewhere around 20 on Saturday morning.
It&#8217;s also been confirmed that the death toll has risen to 29, including at least nine children.
UPDATE: President Donald Trump on Saturday addressed the devastating flooding in Texas, offering the support of his administration and his prayers.
&#8220;The Trump Administration is working with State and Local Officials on the ground in Texas in response to the tragic flooding that took place yesterday,&#8221; the president posted to Truth Social. &#8220;Our Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, will be there shortly.&#8221;

UPDATE: On Saturday, Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha said the total number of confirmed deaths from the flooding is 27, including nine children. About 850 people had been rescued so far, according to authorities.
Additionally, one 13-year-old camper from Camp Mystic <a href="https://abc7ny.com/post/kerrville-texas-flooding-camp-girls-missing-guadalupe-river-flood-waters-hit-mystic-least-27-dead/16970067/">said</a> the facility was &#8220;completely destroyed&#8221; by the flooding. &#8220;A helicopter landed and started taking people away. It was really scary,&#8221; the teen, Elinor Lester, said.

The camp, called Camp Mystic, is located near the Guadalupe River. In less than two hours, the water levels reportedly rose more than 20 feet.
Journalist Nick Sortor posted on X early Saturday morning that two girls from the camp have been found dead.
&#8220;Words cannot begin to describe how heartbroken I am to report this,&#8221; Sortor wrote. &#8220;The bodies of multiple children from Camp Mystic have now been recovered from the floods here in Texas.&#8221;
&#8220;I’ve been sitting on this news for a few hours so that families could be notified,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;There are still 20 girls missing from the camp. Absolutely devastating. PLEASE keep praying. And Rest in Peace, Sarah Marsh, Janie Hunt, and the other victims lost tonight.&#8221;

A mother named Serena Aldrich <a href="https://www.newsnationnow.com/weather/mother-rescued-girls-camp-mystic-flooding/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> NewsNation on Friday that her two daughters, ages 9 and 12, were found unharmed after attending Camp Mystic.
“They’re glad to be home and worried about their friends. They are strong,&#8221; Aldrich said, adding that she feels &#8220;blessed&#8221; and &#8220;grateful&#8221; to have her girls back.
It&#8217;s unclear how many girls remain missing from the camp, though some reports pin the number at 23 to 25 girls, while other reports indicate 20 girls remain unaccounted for.
Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said they are notifying parents about their daughters and working hard to find the girls. “We will do everything humanly possible 24/7, looking in every tree and turning over every rock, to find your daughter or son,” he <a href="https://www.newsnationnow.com/us-news/southwest/camp-mystic-summer-camp-flooding/">said</a>. “The 500 people in the field are looking for your daughter.”
At another girls camp, called Heart O’ the Hills, it&#8217;s been confirmed that camp director and co-owner Jane Ragsdale died in the flooding.

Throughout Kerr County, more than 230 people have been rescued or evacuated, according to CNN. The county sheriff said on Saturday that at least 24 people have been confirmed dead.
