It's been a terrible few days (well, year, really) for CNN — which means it's been an absolutely GREAT few days for President Donald Trump, who's responded by doing what he does best: taking to Twitter to do some serious presidential trolling.
In a series of tweets Tuesday morning, Trump had some fun at the expense of the "Fake News Network," which just saw three of its journalists resign over a retracted "bombshell" Russiagate report and is reportedly experiencing a shakeup at the top.
"Wow, CNN had to retract big story on 'Russia,' with 3 employees forced to resign. What about all the other phony stories they do? FAKE NEWS!" wrote Trump, who followed it up with a retweet of CNN rebranded as "FNN":
But Trump wasn't done; a little while later he smacked "Fake News CNN" again:
"Fake News CNN is looking at big management changes now that they got caught falsely pushing their phony Russian stories," he wrote, adding "Ratings way down!" for good measure.
Then Trump directed his fake news tweetstorm against the other establishment news providers.
"So they caught Fake News CNN cold, but what about NBC, CBS & ABC? What about the failing @nytimes & @washingtonpost? They are all Fake News!" he wrote.
(For a little more restrained take on the "fake news" problem, check out Daily Wire editor-in-chief Ben Shapiro's piece, "If Everybody's 'Fake News,' Whom Do You Trust?" and Hank Berrien's writeup of Trump's partly warranted "fake news" complaint.)
Between his tweets blasting the embattled CNN, Trump also made clear which news network he has more confidence in by shooting out some posts on the Democrats' imploding "collusion" conspiracy theory, all citing Fox News.
