Unhinged abortion enthusiast and D-list comedian Chelsea Handler has a new theory about why Donald Trump won the presidency. Three words: reality show television.
In an interview with Variety, Handler threw her fellow celebs under the rug, blaming reality show television stars like the Kardashians for the development of a culture obsessed with fame and fortune.
“I blame the Kardashians, personally; the beginning of the end was the Kardashians. The way these people have blown up and don’t go away — it’s surreal,” Handler squawked. “Everyone is for sale. We’re looking at a man that gets mad at Vanity Fair for reviewing his restaurant poorly. By the way, have you ever been to that restaurant? It’s the biggest piece of garbage you’ve ever walked into. That place looks like a Southwest airport lounge. It’s the worst.”
Before going off on a tangent about Trump’s “piece of garbage” restaurant, the self-appointed political pundit harangued the press for its unhealthy obsession with Trump’s antics.
“Stop covering [Trump] so much,” she pontificated. “They were treating him as an entertainer first. It was a reality show. We’ve turned into a reality show.”
Handler herself shared a network with the Kardashians for several years before E! entertainment channel pulled the plug on her show. From 2007-2014, Handler was granted a spotlight to make crude jokes and boast about her sexual affinity for African-American men.
But she’s moved on to greener pastures now, offering astute analysis on the latest current events.
Unfortunately, Handler’s analysis came up short. She missed a few variables that fueled the Trump phenomenon. We’ll cut her some slack and fill in the blanks.
First and foremost, Barack Obama’s failed presidency was the catalyst that drove voters to strike down a Democratic candidate who proudly suggested that she was a third-term Obama.
While celebrities like Handler may have enjoyed Obama’s cowardice against a stampede of Islamic terrorism, surging Obamacare premiums, eroding race relations, and executive overreach, everyday Americans couldn’t handle (pun-intended) four more years of liberal malfeasance.
Second, Hillary Clinton was probably the worst presidential candidate in American history. Not only was she a horrible speaker, a boring personality, and a lackluster campaigner, but she was deeply corrupt. The American people knew that. So did the FBI, despite the fact that the bureau, likely under pressure by President Obama’s politicized Justice Department, refused to prosecute the former Secretary of State.
Third, the Trump phenomenon was largely a rebuke against elitist coastal liberals, including Hollywood celebs, the Social Justice Warriors, the PC police, and all the talking heads who have attempted to humiliate so-called “privileged” Americans and impose neo-Marxist censorship on the masses.
Like him or not, Trump was the ultimate referendum against the establishment. He said what was on his mind, however crude and unsavory, and gave others the license to do the same.
But in Handler’s liberal bubble, it has to be something else. It has to be the media landscape or America’s supposed inherent racism and stupidity. Perhaps it’s time for a little bit of introspection, Ms. Handler?
