Homeland Security <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/morning-brief-trumps-liberation-day-doge-pr-battle-self-deportation-push" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recently arrested</a> a Tufts University student, Rumeysa Ozturk, for engaging in “activities in support of Hamas, a foreign terrorist organization that relishes the killing of Americans.”
While the Trump administration&#8217;s arrest of Ozturk is a move in the right direction, she is just one of countless students across the country who share a radical ideology.
Days after the first anniversary of the October 7 massacre which left 1,200 civilians dead, including 40 Americans, the New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/09/nyregion/columbia-pro-palestinian-group-hamas.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released</a> a chilling headline: &#8220;Pro-Palestinian Group at Columbia Now Backs ‘Armed Resistance’ by Hamas.&#8221;
The article claims a pro-Hamas student group at Columbia University marked the anniversary by distributing a <a href="https://newyorkwarcrimes.com/print-issue-vol-iii-no-13" target="_blank" rel="noopener">newspaper</a> titled “One Year Since Al-Aqsa Flood, Revolution Until Victory.” The headline was placed over an image of Hamas fighters breaching Israel&#8217;s security fence. Additionally, the student group published an essay describing the attack as a “moral, military, and political victory” and citing Ismail Haniyeh, the former political leader of Hamas hiding in Qatar who would later be assassinated. 
In 2024, encampments held by these same student groups multiplied on campuses across the country, from New York University to Harvard, Yale, UCLA, and many others.
How have American institutions come to the place where the mass slaughter of Westerners is celebrated on campus? 
A cursory glance at recent history reveals two driving factors: Mass Islamic migration to the West and mass funding from Islamic countries.
First, some clarification and some definitions. Radical Islam, or Islamism, is not the same as Islam. Rather, it is a radical offshoot that seeks, through political and often violent means, to establish a global caliphate where all citizens, Muslim or not, would be governed by a radical interpretation of Sharia law. While not all Muslims are Islamists, many who migrate are.
<h3>The Crusades</h3>
To truly understand the mindset of Islamists today, it is important to look back at the history of the Islamic empire. Since its rapid and bloody expansion in the 7th Century, the empire has clashed with the Western world a great many times in its pursuit for global dominance. The most famous example being the Crusades (1095-1300AD).
As Daily Wire commentator Michael Knowles <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAPeToyagqA">described</a> on a recent Piers Morgan panel, “The Crusades started because the Eastern Emperor requested help from the Western Pope. The Seljuk Turks were slaughtering Christians in the Holy Land, which had been Christian territory before the Muslim invasion in the 7th century.”
While the Holy Land may have remained in Muslim control at the conclusion of the Crusades, a greater victory was secured by the West that continues to define our world to this day: Islamic expansion was stopped from conquering all of Europe.
Fast forward nearly 1,300 years, and Islamists have yet to give up on the ambitions of their ancestors. Take Lebanon, for example. Once dominated by Maronite Christians, the mass migration and high birthrates of Muslim Arabs in Lebanese society over the 20th century eventually changed that. Today, Maronite Christians are a minority, and the nation is predominantly controlled by Hezbollah, a Shia Muslim terrorist organization.
They have now taken a new, alternative strategy when it comes to Europe and the West: mass migration.
<h3>Mass Migration</h3>
Over the past few decades, mass migration has overwhelmed many European countries.
In 2014, England’s Daily Mail <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2755654/The-changing-face-Britain-A-child-Birmingham-likely-Muslim-Christian.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published</a> a chilling headline; “The changing face of Britain: A child in Birmingham is now more likely to be a Muslim than Christian”. According to the 2011 census, the second largest city in England with a rich Christian history, had 97,099 Muslim Children growing up there, compared to 93,828 Christian children. 
Radical progressive and generous immigration policies, including England&#8217;s, are to blame for this trend. During a recent Q&amp;A session, Parliament Member and leader of Reform UK Nigel Farage did not <a href="https://youtube.com/shorts/HidQi4mq71U?si=jVaqhsDBuZqMvqgY" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hold back</a> when addressing the state of immigration in the UK:
<blockquote>From after the war up until the millennium, net immigration ran at 30,000 to 40,000 a year. And yes, it worked. In fact, we had the most successful immigration policies of any country in the whole of Europe—no question. Now, it is totally out of control. Just think about this: two and a half million people have come in the last two years … The numbers are now literally unimaginable and are diminishing the quality of life for everyone in this country.</blockquote>
Farage is correct. These policies have significantly worsened life for everyone living in England. A 2018 YouGov poll <a href="https://www.the-independent.com/news/uk/home-news/uk-no-go-zones-muslim-sharia-law-third-poll-hope-not-hate-far-right-economic-inequality-a8588226.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">found</a> that a third of England’s population believed there were areas in the UK they could not enter if they were not Muslim. Now, reports of predominantly Muslim grooming gangs allegedly <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/uk-new-inquiries-child-sexual-grooming-pressure-elon-musk-tweet/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">terrorizing</a> young girls across the country for over a decade have made headlines, while the government turned a blind eye. Meanwhile, Islamic terror attacks remain a grim reality, with the <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c4ngx3341ldo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">last</a> major incident occurring as recently as 2023.
England is not the only European country dealing with an immigration influx. A recent <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2024/08/19/muslim-migrants-around-the-world/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pew Research study</a> shows the top two European destinations for migrating Muslims are Germany and France. In both <a href="https://miwi-institut.de/archives/2461?_sm_nck=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Germany</a> and <a href="https://www.thelocal.fr/20171201/how-frances-muslim-population-will-grow-in-the-future" target="_blank" rel="noopener">France</a>, some estimates hold that by 2050 nearly one fifth of their respective populations will be Muslim if record high immigration patterns persist. 
North America is also grappling with mass Muslim migration. According to a <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2011/01/27/the-future-of-the-global-muslim-population/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2011 study</a> by Pew Research:
<blockquote>The number of Muslims in Canada is expected to nearly triple in the next 20 years, from about 940,000 in 2010 to nearly 2.7 million in 2030. Muslims are expected to make up 6.6% of Canada’s total population in 2030, up from 2.8%.</blockquote>
When an Islamist migrant was <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuL5pgW9f7g" target="_blank" rel="noopener">asked</a> by a Rebel Media reporter if he would like to see Sharia law implemented in Canada, he replied:
<blockquote>At some point it will! You know because we are having families, we are making babies. You’re not. Your population is going down the slum, right? And by 2060 according to Pew Research institute, your research, by 2060, Muslims will be the biggest religious group.</blockquote>
<h3>Mass Funding</h3>
A key player in subverting their minds is funding. While some universities receive funding from the U.S. government, large dollar amounts are funneled in from foreign governments like Qatar, a major <a href="https://www.fdd.org/analysis/2023/12/19/10-things-to-know-about-hamas-and-qatar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">funder</a> of Hamas.
According to a 2022 study <a href="https://www.nas.org/reports/outsourced-to-qatar/full-report#_ftn1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">noted</a> by the National Association of Scholars, from 2001-2022 Qatar donated $4.7 billion into universities across the United States. As a direct result of Qatar’s funding, according to <a href="https://www.thelawfareproject.org/campus-discrimination/2020/5/15/qatari-influencing-american-education-system" target="_blank" rel="noopener">research</a> from the Lawfare Project, students across America are “learning about the Middle East in a biased way that emphasizes only the positive aspects of Islam while omitting a balanced discussion of other religions or belief systems, most notably Judaism.”
Imam Hasan al-Banna, the <a href="https://www.britannica.com/biography/Hassan-al-Banna" target="_blank" rel="noopener">founder</a> of the Muslim brotherhood, an influential Islamist organization from Egypt, once shared his commitment to the next generation, “The youth are our hope and the backbone of our movement; train them in the principles of Islam, and they will carry the banner of reform into the future.”
If universities remain under the influence of foreign entities like Qatar, the next generation of college educated Westerners will not only fail to stop the spread of radical Islamists, they will inadvertently support their efforts.
Whether it be through mass migration, funding, or ideological subversion, Islamism is a force the West cannot afford to ignore. World leaders would do well to follow the actions of the Trump administration who have been cracking down on the threat since day one. The West deserves to stay Western, and only through political action can current pushes for a global caliphate be subdued.

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro gave remarks at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, on Monday, which marked the anniversary of Hamas’ brutal attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
Around 1,200 people were murdered and hundreds taken captive by Hamas terrorists who crossed Israel’s border last year to carry out the deadliest attack against the Jewish people since the Holocaust. In an interview-style speech with the Young America’s Foundation and hosted by the Buckley Institute at Yale, Shapiro discussed what October 7 revealed about college campuses in the U.S.
“I think that October 7 revealed a lot of truths about the world that the West has been hesitant to address. One of the biggest truths was revealed in the days after October 7 when, even before Israel’s retaliation began … there were widespread protests across the West, particularly on college campuses in favor of Hamas, in favor of Hezbollah, in favor of those who would extirpate Israel from the planet,” Shapiro said.
“The extent of the rot at the core of American education has been truly revealed over the course of the last year,” he added. “[October 7] is not just a day of mourning; it’s a reminder of what happens when the West goes to sleep on its own principles, when it imports people who don’t believe in the West’s principles, and when it cultivates an entire generation of people who don’t believe in the mission of its civilization.”
Yale, along with numerous other prestigious American universities, has been scrutinized for allowing anti-Israel sentiment to fester on campus in the wake of Hamas’ attack on Israel. In a closed-door meeting in June, former Yale President Dr. Peter Salovey was <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/closed-committee-interviews-university-presidents-scheduled-anti-semitism-probe" target="_blank" rel="noopener">grilled</a> by members of Congress over anti-Semitism on campus.
In April, anti-Israel students at Yale <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/yale-students-threaten-hunger-strike-if-anti-israel-demands-are-not-met" target="_blank" rel="noopener">demanded</a> that the Ivy League school divest from weapons manufacturers “contributing to Israel’s assault on Palestine,” threatening to go on a hunger strike if their demands were not met. Just last week, hundreds of students at Yale <a href="https://yaledailynews.com/blog/2024/09/30/students-march-for-lebanon-and-palestine-block-traffic/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">marched</a> and chanted anti-Israel slogans, such as, “Zionism is a crime, from Lebanon to Palestine” and “raise your hand, make a fist, Palestinians will resist… Lebanese will resist.”

Shapiro said there is still hope for higher education institutions such as Yale, “but donors are going to have to start threatening to withdraw their money.”
“And employers are going to have to start looking at degrees from Yale and determining if they are in fact worth the paper they are written on,” he continued, adding, “And by the way, I’m not singling out Yale. The same thing is true of my alma mater, Harvard, which is having very similar experiences. It’s true for most of the major universities in the country at this point.”

Anti-Israel students at Yale University are threatening to go on a hunger strike if the school does not commit to divest from weapons manufacturers “contributing to Israel’s assault on Palestine” by Friday morning, they warned in a letter to the university’s president. 
“If these demands are not met by the morning of 4/12/2024, we will go on a hunger strike,” the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C5lvRDiOtF9/?img_index=1">students wrote</a> to President Peter Salovey. “We will risk our bodily health and wellbeing in ways that mirror only a fraction of the absolute devastation that Palestinians are suffering right now, until you do. Yale’s complicity in genocide must end.”
In the wake of Israel’s war against Hamas for brutally massacring more than 1,000 people on October 7, the letter calls the United States the “empire that is funding the military conquest and colonization of Palestine” and accused the university’s investments of profiting “from this mass ethnic cleansing.”
“Our existence in this University and this country are ones defined by necropolitics,” the students continued. “Our lives here exist as they do because of the investment in the deaths of Palestinians by Yale and the US government.”
The students claimed they “exhausted every mode possible” of making their voices heard without the university making the changes they requested. The students cite various conferences, talks, meetings, and protests that they say failed to elicit a response from the administrators. 
“You flaunt free speech as a protected right on this campus but treat our free speech as if it holds no real weight,” the letter reads. “Our free speech demands a response from you.”
In a now-deleted post on the Instagram account created for the strike, the students solicited donations for “life-giving aid” and medical support to help strike participants.

The letter also accuses Yale of going against its commitment to make investment decisions that “incorporate the full costs of climate change.”
“The first 60 days of Israeli bombardment has released more GHG emissions than the annual carbon emissions of twenty individual countries and the carbon cost of rebuilding Palestine will exceed the annual emissions of over 130 individual countries combined,” the letter reads. 
Citing Yale adopting a policy in 2018 of not investing in assault weapons, the students called on Yale to divest from all weapons manufacturing and military suppliers.
“Just like domestic shootings, the Israeli military causes ‘the Israeli military causes ‘incontrovertible societal harm’ and ‘grave social injury’ as they decimate the educational infrastructure of Palestine.”
The students go on to demand that the president discuss plans for divesting in an upcoming Yale Corporation board meeting.
The letter was signed by a group of 12 graduate and undergraduate students, according to Yale Daily News.
The Instagram post was in collaboration with Yale Law Students for Justice in Palestine, Yalies for Palestine, and Yale Graduate Students for Palestine.
The university is reviewing its investment policies, according to Yale Daily News which cited a February 2024 statement from the university confirming there is a review to extend the 2018 assault weapons policy to “cover manufacturers who effectively retail to the general public.”
Yale University did not respond to a request for comment.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/yale" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Yale University</a> students were welcomed to campus with crime &#8220;survival guide&#8221; flyers featuring the Grim Reaper that were handed out by the Ivy League school&#8217;s police union.
The &#8220;Survival Guide for First-Year Students of Yale University&#8221; warns students about “shockingly high” crime in New Haven, Connecticut, where Yale is located, wishing them “good luck” alongside a picture of a skull in a Grim Reaper hood.
“The incidence of crime and violence in New Haven is shockingly high, and it is getting worse,” reads the flyer from the Yale Police Benevolent Association.
The flyers closely resemble the infamous “Welcome to Fear City” flyers handed out by the NYPD to tourists in the crime-ridden New York City of the 1970s.
Murders have doubled, burglaries are up 33%, and car thefts are up 56% in the seven months ending July 23, the police union warned.
City spokesman Len Speiller <a href="https://www.nhregister.com/news/article/yale-new-haven-police-crime-flyers-fact-check-18325538.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">confirmed</a> to the New Haven Register that &#8220;those specific data points are all accurate.&#8221;
“Nevertheless, some Yalies do manage to survive New Haven and even retain their person property,” the flyer said.
The police union warned students to stay off the streets after 8 p.m., to avoid walking alone, to avoid public transportation, and to stay on campus, among other safety advice.

City and Yale officials both blasted the police union for handing out the ominous flyers to incoming students.
Yale University officials called the flyers &#8220;misinformation,&#8221; as well as &#8220;disturbing and inflammatory.&#8221;
&#8220;This weekend, the Yale Police Union, which is currently in contract negotiations with the university, handed out misleading pamphlets to Yale students as they moved into their residential colleges,&#8221; Yale <a href="https://news.yale.edu/2023/08/21/yale-university-response-misinformation-police-union-pamphlet" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Monday in a statement.
Yale officials said they &#8220;unequivocally condemn the irresponsible and reckless actions of those who chose to spread this inaccurate information.&#8221;
The school claimed that robberies and burglaries are down both on campus and in New Haven. Yale said the most reported crime on campus is the theft of laptops, cell phones, and motorized scooters that have been left unattended and unsecured.
&#8220;The university supports the right of union members to rally peacefully, but today’s leafleting both ran counter to the spirit of the day and detracted from the exemplary work performed by Yale Police officers, Public Safety team members, and their partners at the New Haven Police Department,&#8221; Yale said.
New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker slammed the flyer as &#8220;totally offensive&#8221; and &#8220;false and scary,&#8221; saying crime is down in New Haven since 2020, when many cities across the country saw a spike in violent crime.
&#8220;As the Mayor stated at the press conference, when you look most of the trends over time, crime is down,&#8221; <a href="https://www.nhregister.com/news/article/yale-new-haven-police-crime-flyers-fact-check-18325538.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Speiller, the city spokesman, adding that you can &#8220;cherry pick certain data points to construct a false narrative.&#8221;
The 1970s New York City pamphlets <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/08/25/yale-students-get-ominous-grim-reaper-crime-survival-flyers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">warned</a> tourists, “The best advice we can give you is this: Until things change, stay away from New York City if you possibly can.”
The New York pamphlets were widely condemned at the time despite the high levels of crime in the city.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/outer-space" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Astronomers</a> have sighted a supermassive black hole traveling through space that appears to have been ejected from its host galaxy.
Researchers observing the dwarf galaxy designated RCP 28, roughly 7.5 billion light years away from our solar system, <a href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2302.04888" target="_blank" rel="noopener">noticed</a> an aberrant streak of light via the Hubble telescope. The “streak” appears to be a collection of stars being dragged out of their home galaxy by the immense gravitational force of a black hole.
The “runaway” black hole is the first of its kind to be observed, and appears to have been ejected from its original galaxy.
&#8220;We found a thin line in a Hubble image that is pointing to the center of a galaxy,” Professor Pieter van Dokkum of Yale University, the lead author of the study, <a href="https://www.livescience.com/runaway-black-hole-the-size-of-20-million-suns-found-speeding-through-space-with-a-trail-of-newborn-stars-behind-it" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “From a detailed analysis of the feature, we inferred that we are seeing a very massive black hole that was ejected from the galaxy, leaving a trail of gas and newly formed stars in its wake.&#8221;
The “stellar tail” in its wake is 200,000 light-years long, twice the diameter of our Milky Way galaxy.
The black hole in question is believed to be 20 million times more massive than the Sun, and it is traveling away from RCP 28 at a rate of 3.5 million miles per hour, roughly 4,500 times the speed of sound.
Black holes are celestial bodies where matter has been condensed and concentrated to such an extent that even light cannot escape its gravitational pull — as such, black holes are almost impossible to observe directly, and are usually spotted via their effects on nearby stars and nebulae (clouds of interstellar gas).
Black holes form during the collapse of exceptionally large stars. During the process of a large supernova, the gravitational force at the core of the star becomes so intense that it <a href="https://news.uchicago.edu/explainer/black-holes-explained" target="_blank" rel="noopener">overpowers the other fundamental forces</a> (the strong nuclear force, the weak nuclear force, electromagnetism), allowing incredible amounts of matter to be compressed into an exceptionally small space: physicists estimate that a black hole with the mass of our sun would measure only <a href="https://imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov/science/objects/black_holes2.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">6km in diameter</a> (for comparison, the Sun measures ~1,400,000 km in diameter, making the blackhole 343 quadrillion times as dense).
Physicists <a href="https://ec.europa.eu/research-and-innovation/en/horizon-magazine/how-did-supermassive-black-holes-grow-so-fast" target="_blank" rel="noopener">don’t understand</a> exactly how supermassive black holes (which range from hundreds of thousands to billions of times more massive than the Sun) formed, but they are believed to play a crucial role in galaxy formation as virtually every observed galaxy has one at its core, which their various stellar systems orbit. It&#8217;s unclear how such a massive object could be dislodged from its position in the galactic core.
&#8220;The most likely scenario that explains everything we&#8217;ve seen is a slingshot, caused by a three-body interaction,&#8221; van Dokkum <a href="https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/runaway-black-hole-the-size-of-20-million-suns-found-speeding-through-space-with-a-trail-of-newborn-stars-behind-it/ar-AA17LPzM?cvid=76fdd1e8129e41f3b64eb016c04c4340&amp;ocid=winp2fptaskbarhover" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;When three similar-mass bodies gravitationally interact, the interaction does not lead to a stable configuration but usually to the formation of a binary and the ejection of the third body. &#8230; Ejected supermassive black holes had been predicted for 50 years but none have been unambiguously seen. Iszac Henig, a senior on the Yale men’s swim team, placed 79th out of 83 at a men’s meet in November after earning All-American plaudits as a junior on the school’s women’s team. But in an op-ed column Henig wrote for the New York Times this week, the 22-year-old athlete, whose breasts were removed, says living as a man makes it all worthwhile.

Henig, who hails from Menlo Park, California, was a high school phenom and even tried out for the 2016 Olympics long before having a double mastectomy and identifying as a man. As a sophomore at Yale, Henig was the top swimmer on the women’s team.

Thomas, on the other hand, was a mediocre competitor on the University of Pennsylvania men’s team before identifying as a female and smashing records while representing the school’s women’s team. Several of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/i-just-want-change-outspoken-lia-thomas-competitor-slams-leftist-media-for-ignoring-her-story/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Thomas’s teammates and rivals complained</a> that Thomas’s biological advantages made competitions unfair.
Thomas and Henig actually competed against each other early last year, after Henig began identifying as a male but before Henig switched over to the men&#8217;s team. <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/01/08/lia-thomas-defeated-by-fellow-transgender-swimmer-iszac-henig/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Henig bested Thomas</a> in both the 100- and 400-yard freestyle events.

In the column for The New York Times, Henig acknowledged a longstanding attraction to women, but said being in the women’s locker room was always uncomfortable.

“I thought that my unease came from worry that my sexuality made others uncomfortable,” Henig wrote. “I hadn’t yet considered that the real reason I felt so off was my sense of being in the wrong locker room.”

Henig took the 2020-2021 year off from school in order to keep a year of NCAA eligibility and begin the transition.

“I dived deeper into queerness, exploring the balance of masculinity and femininity, especially with presentation in clothing,” Henig wrote. “Through that I discovered binders, base-layer compression garments used to create a more traditionally masculine chest appearance.”

Henig’s breasts were removed in early 2021. Upon returning to Yale, Henig, who had already been taking male hormones, was given the choice of competing as a woman or as a man. Henig initially chose to remain on the women’s team, but then joined the men’s team for the 2022-23 season.

Going from star to also-ran is worth it for Henig, who is happy to compete against men.

A federal <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/judiciary">judge</a> said he will no longer hire clerks from <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/yale">Yale</a> Law School and urged other judges to do the same.
Judge James Ho of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit announced Thursday that he will no longer take clerks from the Ivy League school because of its rampant cancel culture.
Yale &#8220;not only tolerates the cancellation of views — it actively practices it,&#8221; Ho <a href="https://twitter.com/njhochman/status/1575531318431072257">said</a> in keynote remarks at a Federalist Society conference in Kentucky.
While censorship happens at other schools as well, at Yale Law, &#8220;cancellations and disruptions seem to occur with special frequency,&#8221; Ho <a href="https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/trump-appointed-judge-boycotts-yale-law-clerks-over-cancel-culture-2022-09-29/">said</a>.
Ho <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/2022/09/exclusive-federal-judge-vows-to-stop-hiring-law-clerks-from-yale-law-school/">urged</a> other judges to join him and stop hiring clerks from the elite school as well.
“If they want the closed and intolerant environment that Yale embraces today, that’s their call,” Ho <a href="https://twitter.com/njhochman/status/1575531314555817986">said</a>. “I want nothing to do with it.”
“I don&#8217;t want to cancel Yale,&#8221; Ho <a href="https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/trump-appointed-judge-boycotts-yale-law-clerks-over-cancel-culture-2022-09-29/">said</a> according to his prepared remarks. &#8220;I want Yale to stop canceling people like me.&#8221;
Yale has not commented on Ho&#8217;s remarks.
Ho was nominated to the Fifth Circuit by former President Donald Trump in 2017 and took his seat on the court in 2018. In September, 2020, Trump <a href="https://trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov/briefings-statements/remarks-president-trump-judicial-appointments/">included</a> Ho on a list of potential Supreme Court nominees.
The judge mentioned several recent incidents at Yale Law, including one where more than 100 students <a href="https://freebeacon.com/campus/hundreds-of-yale-law-students-disrupt-bipartisan-free-speech-event/">tried to shout down</a> a bipartisan panel on civil liberties, and police were called to escort the panelists from the building.
In another incident, Yale Law administrators <a href="https://freebeacon.com/campus/a-yale-law-student-sent-a-lighthearted-email-inviting-classmates-to-his-trap-house-the-school-is-now-calling-him-to-account/">pressured</a> a student for weeks to apologize for a &#8220;triggering&#8221; email in which he referred to his apartment as a &#8220;trap house.&#8221; The administrators said that the email was &#8220;triggering&#8221; in part because the student was a member of a conservative organization.
Ho has previously voiced his spirited criticism of censorship at other elite schools, including Georgetown.
In February, Ho defended legal scholar Ilya Shapiro after Shapiro was <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/06/06/us/georgetown-ilya-shapiro.html">suspended</a> and investigated over a series of tweets before he could take his new job as a senior lecturer and executive director at Georgetown University’s Center for the Constitution.
Shapiro had tweeted that D.C.-based federal judge Sri Srinivasan was the best Supreme Court pick for Biden, but he &#8220;doesn’t fit into the latest intersectionality hierarchy so we’ll get lesser black woman.&#8221;
Ho defended the substance of Shapiro&#8217;s tweets, saying any perceived racial discrimination does not come from Shapiro.
&#8220;Make no mistake: If there is any racial discrimination in statements like these, it’s not coming from the speaker — it’s coming from the policy that the speaker is criticizing,&#8221; the judge <a href="https://twitter.com/njhochman/status/1493645855139807232">said</a>.
&#8220;If Ilya Shapiro is deserving of cancellation, then you should cancel me too,&#8221; Ho <a href="https://twitter.com/njhochman/status/1493643104792023046">said</a>.
Ho&#8217;s conservative interpretation of the Constitution has been evident in several of his judicial rulings.
In one of his judicial opinions, the conservative judge said that the current U.S. government &#8220;would be unrecognizable to our Founders.&#8221;
Ho wrote in another opinion that bishops have the right to &#8220;express their profound objection to the moral tragedy of abortion.&#8221;
In his speech Thursday, Ho suggested judges might still be able to influence campus culture by taking action.
“We’re not just citizens,” he <a href="https://twitter.com/njhochman/status/1575531330670149639">said</a>. “We’re also customers … I wonder how a law school would feel, if my fellow federal judges and I stopped being its customers.”

On Friday, The New York Times published its latest op-ed calling for the end of the Constitution of the United States. The authors, Ryan Doerfler and Samuel Moyn, teach law at Harvard and Yale respectively. They argue that the Left’s progress has been stymied by Constitutionalism itself. “The idea of constitutionalism,” they correctly write, “is that there needs to be some higher law that is more difficult to change than the rest of the legal order. Having a constitution is about setting more sacrosanct rules than the ones the legislature can pass day-to-day.” This, of course, orients the process of law toward the past: there are certain lines that simply cannot be crossed. And, as Doerfler and Moyn point out, “constitutionalism of any sort demands extraordinary consensus for meaningful progress.”
And herein lies the problem for Doerfler and Moyn: constitutions “misdirect the present into a dispute over what people agreed on once upon a time, not on what the present and future demand for and from those who live now.” The solution, they say, lies in dispensing with the Constitution entirely; the proper solution to the Constitution is in “direct arguments about what fairness or justice demands.” After all, they admit, “It’s difficult to find a constitution basis for abortion or labor unions in a document written by largely affluent men more than two centuries ago. It would be far better if liberal legislators could simply make a case for abortion and labor rights on their own merits without having to bother with the Constitution.”
How can the Constitution be jettisoned? The authors suggest packing the Union with more states; “reorganization our legislature in ways that are more fairly representative of where people actually live and vote”; turning the Senate into a legislative vestigial organ, without any actual power. 
At least they’re saying the quiet part out loud.
The truth is that the Constitution is “anti-democratic,” in the sense that it sets up a series of limits on what a democratically-elected government can do. The Constitution is a charter of limited powers, delegated by the people and the States to the federal government; neither the people nor the state governments would ever have consented to the sort of pure populism promoted by Doerfler and Moyn. The founders deplored the idea of an unfettered federal government ruled only by popular passions. That is why they put in place a system of check and balances to forestall mob majoritarianism. They recognized a simple truth: that the best and most responsive government presides over homogenous interests, generally locally, and that as we abstract rule away from the people, interests diverge. This means that as government abstracts away from the people, it ought to be granted less and less power.
The Left hates the Constitution for precisely that reason. To the Left, the Constitution is a mere barrier against the utopian mission to restructure human relations, and ultimately, humanity itself. In this view, large government is to be the levelling force among human beings, cramming down the views of one half of the country on the other half. Local governance is dangerous because it might lead to diversity of viewpoint and practice; federal government is the best available tool for shaping and molding. Dispense with the Constitution’s limits on the powers of the federal government, and suddenly transformational change becomes possible.
The only problem is that such a viewpoint utterly disregards the history of human relations. A government that presides over 330 million human beings with a variety of different viewpoints on core moral issues is unlikely to rule either benevolently or successfully if granted the unfettered power to flatten a multiplicity of jurisdictions and ways of life. Limits are the key to both benevolence and success in governance. Dispensing with the Constitution may sound pleasing to those who seek drastic change on the greatest scale, but drastic change of that nature typically looks more like tyranny than progress.

William “Billy” Miller was <a href="https://www.wtnh.com/news/family-alleges-yale-new-haven-hospital-left-man-alone-for-seven-hours-to-die-in-hallway/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">left alone</a> in a hallway for seven hours — allegedly unattended and untreated — at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he died last year at the age of 23.
Miller&#8217;s mother has <a href="https://www.ctpost.com/news/article/Lawsuit-Man-dies-after-being-left-unattended-at-17379835.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filed a lawsuit</a> in Superior Court, saying that the hospital staffers were negligent in their duties. &#8220;They untreated him to death,&#8221; Tina Darnsteadt explained.

According to both authorities and family members, Miller had initially been treated by firefighters after ingesting a white powder that he thought might have been laced with fentanyl. The East Haven Fire Department had responded to a call at 6:25 p.m. on May 10, 2021 from Peter’s Rock Association Park, and they were already treating Miller with naloxone (Narcan) — which is used to combat potential opioid overdoses — when an ambulance arrived.
The ambulance transported Miller to Yale-New Haven Hospital then — in spite of the fact that he was reportedly &#8220;walking, talking, and alert&#8221; at the time — because the effects of opioid toxicity can recur very quickly and they wanted to make sure he was under observation. He reportedly called his mother from the ambulance to tell her that he was all right. He arrived at the hospital at 7:13 p.m.
According to the lawsuit, from that point until 1:56 a.m., Miller was not evaluated by hospital staffers. Surveillance footage showed him getting up from the stretcher several times — to use the bathroom and to get something to eat — and using the phone, after which point he looked as though he had fallen asleep.
At 1:56 a.m., a nurse found Miller unresponsive and without a pulse, and according to the lawsuit, by then he had clearly &#8220;been in full cardiac arrest for an unknown period of time.&#8221;
&#8220;The next morning, we called the hospital for an update but we couldn’t get any details,” she said. “My last conversation with Billy he said everything was going to be OK and he would see me tomorrow but tomorrow has never come for us,&#8221; Darnsteadt said.
The family&#8217;s attorney, Sean McElligott, added, &#8220;This young man’s death was completely avoidable. The hospital failed to provide him with the most basic medical care. This should never happen. Billy’s death was tragic and his family and loved ones are devastated by the utter lack of care provided at the hospital. I will work hard to make sure nothing like this happens to another family.&#8221;
Hospital officials confirmed that they are aware of the lawsuit, adding, &#8220;Even in the best organizations gaps in care may occur. When they do, our goal is to acknowledge them, learn from them, and ensure that we minimize any chance that they ever occur again.&#8221;

Researchers at Yale University are challenging the idea of irreversible cardiac death after new technology tested on pigs restored some of the animals&#8217; heart and brain cells an hour after dying.
<a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-022-02112-0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nature</a>, a scientific journal, reported Wednesday that a team of scientists revived some circulation and cellular activity in the pigs&#8217; vital organs by using a life-support type of system the group developed called OrganEx, which streams a mixture of pig blood and 13 compounds into a pig&#8217;s cardiovascular system and oxygenizes its tissue. 
The experimental system evolved from technology developed in 2019 that delivered artificial blood to a pig&#8217;s brain called BrainEx.
&#8220;We made cells do something they weren&#8217;t able to do,&#8221; Zvonimir Vrselja, a neuroscientist and team member at Yale University, told the scientific journal. &#8220;We&#8217;re not saying it&#8217;s clinically relevant, but it&#8217;s moving in the right direction.&#8221;
While scientists kept the animals heavily sedated and hooked up to ventilators before and after dying from a cardiac arrest, they observed that the livers and kidneys of the pigs showed some functionality. The study also noted electrical activity and contractions in heart cells occurred.
&#8220;All cells do not die immediately,&#8221; David Andrijevic, an associate research scientist in neuroscience at Yale School of Medicine and co-lead author of the study, told the <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://news.yale.edu/2022/08/03/yale-developed-technology-restores-cell-organ-function-pigs-after-death" target="_blank" rel="noopener">university</a>. &#8220;There is a more protracted series of events.&#8221;
&#8220;It is a process in which you can intervene, stop, and restore some cellular function,&#8221; Andrijevic added.
During the six-hour experiment, the dead pigs began moving their head, neck, and torso involuntarily — which surprised researchers, who said the spinal cords may have controlled those motor functions.
&#8220;We can say that animals were not conscious during these moments, and we don&#8217;t have enough information to speculate why they moved,&#8221; said Dr. Nenad Sestan, a professor of neuroscience at the Yale School of Medicine and an author of the new research, according to <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.nbcnews.com/science/science-news/scientists-reanimate-dead-cells-pigs-potential-breakthrough-organ-tran-rcna41014" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News</a>. 
Some of the brain tissue was preserved during the process. However, it did not show any coordinated activity, which could have indicated the animal regaining &#8220;consciousness or sentience.&#8221; 
&#8220;If you can regain some function in a dead pig brain, you can do it in other organs, too,&#8221; Sestan said.
Researchers said it was difficult to tell the difference under a microscope between healthy organs and those treated using OrganEx.
Although the researchers have only just begun the experimental phase, the cellular restoration could potentially be replicated in humans, extending the lives of people who suffer from a stroke or a heart attack. The technology may even expand organ transplant availability.
&#8220;There are numerous potential applications of this exciting new technology,&#8221; Stephen Latham, director of the Yale Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics, told the <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://news.yale.edu/2022/08/03/yale-developed-technology-restores-cell-organ-function-pigs-after-death" target="_blank" rel="noopener">university</a>. &#8220;However, we need to maintain careful oversight of all future studies, particularly any that include perfusion of the brain.&#8221;
Brendan Parent, an assistant professor of bioethics at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, told <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.nbcnews.com/science/science-news/scientists-reanimate-dead-cells-pigs-potential-breakthrough-organ-tran-rcna41014" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News</a> his eyes &#8220;went wide&#8221; after reading about the new research. 
&#8220;My brain went to all the crazy places we could go in 20 or 30 years,&#8221; Parent said.  
The study further emphasized ethical challenges tied to using the technology and what it could mean to declare a person dead.
Arthur Caplan, a bioethicist at New York University, told Nature that as medicine evolves, the definitions of death may adapt.
&#8220;People tend to focus on brain death, but there&#8217;s not much consensus on when cardiac death occurs,&#8221; Caplan said. &#8220;This paper brings that home in an important way.&#8221;

Televangelist Pat Robertson&#8217;s wife, Adelia &#8220;Dede&#8221; Robertson, died at the age of 94 on Tuesday in her Virginia Beach home, according to an obituary posted on the Christian Broadcasting Network&#8217;s website.
The <a href="https://www.cbn.com/dederobertson/">obit</a> did not provide any details as to the cause of her death, but did share touching tributes from her children, calling her the &#8220;rock&#8221; of their family and the one who &#8220;held&#8221; their family together.
&#8220;Dede Robertson was a woman of great faith, a champion of the Gospel, and a remarkable servant of Christ who has left an indelible print on all that she set her hand to during her extraordinary life,&#8221; her husband, the famed televangelist shared in a statement.
&#8220;My mom was a rock,&#8221; daughter, Ann LeBlanc, shared. &#8220;She was a rock throughout our childhood. Dad had to travel a lot, but Mom was always there for us kids … that gives great security to children.&#8221;

She was not too concerned about herself. She was selfless. I always saw that growing up. She would make sure we had before she had.&#8221;
Dede was born on December 3, 1927, in Columbus, Ohio. She would later graduate &#8220;from Ohio State University where she earned a bachelor&#8217;s degree in Social Administration,&#8221; the statement read. She also was a beauty queen in the Miss Ohio State contest and worked as a fashion model.
She later earned a Master of Nursing Degree from Yale University School of Nursing. It was while she was at Yale, she met her husband, M.G. &#8220;Pat&#8221; Robertson, a student in the Yale Law School, the statement added.
She is survived by her husband of more than 60 years, their four children, Timothy Robertson, Elizabeth Robinson, Gordon Robertson, and Ann LeBlanc, as well as the couple&#8217;s 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, the CBN statement read.
Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.

Do witnesses in non-courtroom hearings have immunity from being sued like they do in court? That’s the question the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit is asking in a new filing in a long-running case involving a Yale University student accused of rape by another student. The accused was found not guilty of all charges in a court of law, but Yale expelled him anyway, using a much lower standard of evidence – and backed by a culture that insists all accusations are true.
The accused student, Saifullah Khan, sued his accuser, who has not been named in court or the media, for defamation. He also sued Yale for numerous grievances including gender discrimination, breach of contract, negligent and intentional infliction of emotional distress, and more. On February 9, 2021, a district court dismissed Khan’s lawsuit, citing absolute quasi-judicial immunity. Khan, however, argued that “the proceedings of non-government entities cannot be quasi-judicial and, thus, Doe&#8217;s accusations of sexual assault in a private university&#8217;s disciplinary hearing are not shielded by absolute immunity,” the Second Circuit wrote.
Eugene Volokh, at Reason, <a href="https://reason.com/volokh/2022/03/07/absolute-immunity-from-libel-lawsuits-for-witnesses-testifying-in-private-universities-title-ix-proceedings/">noted</a> that the Second Circuit has submitted a list of questions to the Connecticut Supreme Court regarding Khan’s case:
<blockquote>[1.] Under Connecticut law, can a proceeding before a non-government entity ever be deemed quasi-judicial for purposes of affording absolute immunity to proceeding participants?
[2.] If the answer to the first question is &#8220;yes,&#8221; what requirements must be satisfied for a non-government proceeding to be recognized as quasi-judicial? Specifically,
[a.] Must an entity apply controlling law, and not simply its own rules, to facts at issue in the proceeding? See Petyan v. Ellis, 200 Conn. at 246, 510 A.2d 1337; see also W. Keeton, D. Dobbs, R. Keeton &amp; D. Owen, Prosser &amp; Keeton on Law of Torts § 114, at 818-19 (5th ed. 1984).
[b.] How, if at all, do the &#8220;power&#8221; factors enumerated in Kelley v. Bonney, 221 Conn. at 567, 606 A.2d 693, and Craig v. Stafford Construction, Inc., 271 Conn. at 85, 856 A.2d 372, apply to the identification of a non-government entity as quasi-judicial; and, if they do apply, are these factors &#8220;in addition&#8221; to, id., or independent of, a preliminary law-to-fact requirement?
[c.] How, if at all, does public policy inform the identification of a non-government entity as quasi-judicial and, if it does, is this consideration in addition to, or independent of, a law-to-fact requirement and the enumerated Kelley/Craig factors?
[d.] How, if at all, do procedures usually associated with traditional judicial proceedings—such as notice and the opportunity to be heard; the ability to be physically present throughout a proceeding; an oath requirement; the ability to call, examine, confront, and cross-examine witnesses; the ability to be represented by counsel—inform the identification of a proceeding as quasi-judicial? See Craig v. Stafford Const., Inc., 271 Conn. at 87-88, 856 A.2d 372; Kelley v. Bonney, 221 Conn. at 568-70, 606 A.2d 693.
[3.] If it is possible under Connecticut law to identify a non-government proceeding as quasi-judicial, then, in light of responses to the above questions, was the 2018 Yale University UWC proceeding at issue on this appeal properly recognized as quasi-judicial?
[4.] If the answer to Question 3 is &#8220;yes,&#8221; would Connecticut extend absolute quasi-judicial immunity to defendant Jane Doe for her statements in that UWC proceeding?
[5.] If the answer to Question 3 is &#8220;no,&#8221; would Connecticut afford defendant Jane Doe qualified immunity or no immunity at all?</blockquote>
Khan&#8217;s attorney, Cameron Atkinson, told The Daily Wire that the &#8220;so-called victim in this case sought a get-out-of-jail free card from being held accountable for the false accusations against Mr. Khan.&#8221;
&#8220;A jury of his peers found him innocent,&#8221; Atkinson continued. &#8220;A Connecticut district court gave her a get-out-of-jail free card, but the Second circuit agreed with us that Connecticut courts get to decide Connecticut law and we look forward to making sure Khan’s side of the story is told and that she and the university are held accountable for the outrages that have been committed against him.”
The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-jury-acquitted-him-on-all-charges-but-yale-still-expelled-him-now-hes-suing-the-school-and-his-accuser">reported</a> on the details of Khan’s case. In March 2018, Khan was found not guilty by a jury in a court of law. While some could argue that “not guilty” does not mean “innocent,” the jurors <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2018/03/16/setting-the-record-straight-on-the-yale-sex-assault-trial/">I spoke to</a> after the trial said that they saw Khan as innocent.
“He’s innocent, and the facts prove it,” said Elise Wiener, an alternate juror who saw the same evidence as the other jurors. “He was acquitted because he deserved to be acquitted and the prosecutor should never have brought the case in the first place.”
Wiener and main juror Jim Gallulo said they didn’t believe Khan’s accuser. At one point, prosecutors showed a still frame from surveillance footage that appeared to show Khan holding up his accuser (her name has not been released and she is referred to as Jane Doe in court documents). Prosecutors claimed this was evidence that the accuser was too drunk to even stand on her own and that Khan had to practically drag her to the dorms. The defense, however, played the actual video from surveillance footage, which showed Khan and his accuser walking arm in arm and appearing to be a happy couple.
That is how every moment on the evening of the alleged sexual assault played out in court. Prosecutors spun everything as evidence that Khan was forcing Jane toward sex. For example, prosecutors claimed Khan took the accuser’s phone at one point. Khan said that he was helping her find a ticket for a concert they were both attending. During the concert, Khan’s accuser threw up. Prosecutors described the situation in a way that made jurors believe the woman must have been really ill. But when defense attorneys produced the accuser’s dress from that night — which hadn’t been washed — there was only a faint trace of vomit.
The sexual encounter happened hours later. Keen observers will realize that vomiting actually removes much of the alcohol from one’s system.
Khan was found “not guilty,” and returned to Yale, but he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/yale-student-cleared-sexual-assault-will-return-ashe-schow">still faced a pseudo trial</a> at his university. The Yale kangaroo court found Khan responsible for sexual assault and expelled him. Many of the same people involved in Khan’s expulsion have been involved in other sexual misconduct “trials” for accused students who were also found responsible based on flimsy evidence or when there was exculpatory evidence.
In court documents reviewed by The Daily Wire, one of the named persons being sued by Khan is David Post. Post was the Yale administrator <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/yale-student-railroaded-by-university-kangaroo-court-is-finally-moving-on-with-his-life">who convinced a student</a> to file a formal allegation against former Yale basketball Jack Montague after another administrator reportedly suggested that Montague had assaulted another woman on a previous occasion.
Khan was born in a refugee camp in Pakistan six months after his family fled Afghanistan to avoid potentially being killed by the Taliban. He grew up in and around the refugee camp before fleeing to the United Arab Emirates. Khan, a bright student, applied to Yale and was accepted, but suggested he attend the preparatory Hotchkiss School in nearby Lakeville, Connecticut first. Khan accepted a full scholarship to Hotchkiss and Yale. Prior to attending Hotchkiss, Khan hadn’t even learned to use a knife and fork.
Khan knew his eventual accuser previously, and attended a Halloween party where he met up with her before a concert by the Yale Student Orchestra later that evening. Jane drank during the party and became ill during the concert and threw up on her costume. Khan and Jane left early due to the illness.
The pair walked together across campus — as seen in the surveillance footage mentioned earlier — and returned to their dormitory. Khan took Jane to her room and used his key card to swipe her in. A minute later, Khan used his key card to enter his own dorm room. Khan and his attorneys say that Jane called Khan to ask him to come back to her room.
According to Khan, once there, Jane asked him to check up on one of her friends, who had too much to drink that night. Time codes show that Khan used his key card in an area of the dorm he had no otherwise reason to be in — the area where Jane’s friend was sick. Khan returned to Jane’s room after checking on her friend, and Jane performed oral sex on Khan. Jane asked Khan to wear a condom, but she gagged on it and went into the bathroom to vomit, Khan says.
While she was in the bathroom, Khan called his girlfriend at another university, with whom he had an open relationship. Khan said he did not understand how an American girl might feel about him talking to another woman just after engaging in sexual activity, as Khan and his girlfriend were both from Afghanistan.
Khan and Jane then engaged in sexual intercourse and fell asleep in Jane’s bed. The next morning, Khan returned to his own room.
According to Khan’s lawsuit, Jane then started telling her friends she was raped, but told a campus health care worker that she had consensual unprotected sex. Jane then publicly accused Khan of rape and went to the Yale Women’s Center where she was advised to file a formal complaint against Khan. Based on her complaint, Khan was immediately suspended and police opened an investigation. Khan was charged but acquitted at trial based on the evidence laid out earlier in this article, as well as texts she had sent to Khan and the inconsistent claims she gave to authorities about their encounter.
