<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The annual Victoria’s Secret fashion show started in 1995. It featured supermodels, or “Angels,” strutting the runway in lingerie and other high-end styles from the brand. The show was put on hiatus in 2019 following public backlash over body image expectations and the general content of the show. Many critics on the Left complained it wasn&#8217;t inclusive of body types or race, and accused the show of lacking LGBTQ representation.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the following years, the brand moved away from “Angels” and instead made ambassadors out of &#8220;accomplished women,&#8221; such as soccer star and leftist activist Megan Rapinoe, actress Priyanka Chopra, and trans-identifying model Valentina Sampaio.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sampaio told Marie Claire that being included in the show was a “major victory for trans people.” </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Being a trans woman often means facing a closed door to people&#8217;s hearts and minds. <p>During a meeting last week in New York, the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/victorias-secret-brand-ceo-out-as-company-struggles-following-pursuit-of-wokeness" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lingerie brand</a> head told investors that the new direction for the company is &#8220;sexiness&#8221; and increasing its lingerie, swimwear, and activewear lines, <a href="https://www.foxbusiness.com/media/victorias-secret-ditches-prioritizing-wokeness-sexiness-sales-drop" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox Business</a> reported.</p>
<p>&#8220;Sexiness can be inclusive,&#8221; Unis said. &#8220;Sexiness can celebrate the diverse experiences of our customers and that&#8217;s what we&#8217;re focused on.&#8221;</p>
<p>Unis added that, the brand will increase its sleepwear and lingerie piece offerings like slip dresses, corset tops, and more, <a href="https://www.cnn.com/style/why-victorias-secret-is-bringing-sexy-back-bof/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CNN</a> noted.</p>

<p>Executives hope by making this move it will improve the company&#8217;s earnings, putting it closer to the $7.5 billion it earned in 2020 in annual sales, <a href="https://www.cnn.com/style/why-victorias-secret-is-bringing-sexy-back-bof/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CNN</a> noted.</p>
<p>The company said while the move to push LGBTQ identities was favored by critics, it didn&#8217;t equal better sales. The brand is projecting revenue of $6.2 billion this fiscal year, which is down 5% from the previous year, and 15% from 2020.</p>
<p>Over the last two years, Victoria&#8217;s Secret ditched its glitzy annual Victoria&#8217;s Secret Fashion Show — and sexualized ad campaigns with VS Angel models — that made people like Gisele Bundchen, Heidi Klum and Adriana Lima famous among so many others.</p>
<p>Instead, it said the company would push a more &#8220;inclusive&#8221; lingerie campaign, featuring liberal activist soccer star Megan Rapinoe, trans-identifying male model Valentina Sampaio, plus-size models and others.</p>
<p>In 2021, activist <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/10/18/victorias-secret-ditches-wokeness-over-sexiness-after-sales-drop/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=nypost&amp;utm_source=twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rapinoe</a> called out the company, claiming that before its woke push, the company had sent out a &#8220;really harmful&#8221; message that was &#8220;patriarchal, sexist, viewing not just what it meant to be sexy but what the clothes were trying to accomplish through a male lens and through what men desired.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;And it was very much marketed toward younger women,&#8221; she <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/16/business/victorias-secret-collective-megan-rapinoe.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">added</a>, at the time.</p>
<p>Other changes announced at the meeting included that, the lingerie company would be updating its stores and opening 400 new locations outside the United States and Canada.</p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;">A social media influencer who was the first plus-size model for Victoria’s Secret was slammed after posting TikTok videos of her talking with her dying grandmother about the grandmother’s planned euthanasia.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">In 2019, Ali Tate Cutler appeared in a photoshoot for Victoria’s Secret collaboration with the Bluebella. “We are thrilled to be working with Ali on the VS x Bluebella campaign,” a Victoria’s Secret spokesperson told <a href="https://wwd.com/fashion-news/intimates/ali-tate-cutler-victorias-secret-first-plus-size-model-1203337483/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Women’s Wear Daily</a>.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“My grandmother has chosen euthanasia for her terminal diagnosis, so this is the last time I can take her out for dinner,” Cutler posted in a TikTok video as she cavorted with her grandmother.</p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;">In another video, Cutler posted a long discussion with her grandmother in which they discussed the euthanasia.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“What are your thoughts as you like move closer to the date?” she asked.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“It’s like the light at the end of the tunnel,” her grandmother replied.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“What are some of the precursors?” Cutler wanted to know. “Like the questions they asked to make sure you’re doing it for the right reason.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“Your diagnosis is if it’s fatal, how many more months you have; they give you time to consider. They keep stressing the fact that you can always change your mind,” her grandmother explained.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“What is the actual day like?” Cutler queried.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“Like they said, an appointment,” her grandmother said. “Initial injection putting you to sleep. And the big pain is a prick in the hand to provide for the little valves, and then once you’re in a deep sleep, there are two other injections. At that point you don&#8217;t know, so it’s painless.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">When Cutler asked whether her grandmother would prefer to die at home, her grandmother said she preferred the hospital, adding, “I came in quietly; I’d like to go out quietly.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Cutler asked if she was nervous or excited; her grandmother said she was “looking forward to just putting it in, to being dependent, no control.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“As the day approaches, is it something you’re thinking about every day?” Cutler asked.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“No,” her grandmother answered.  “Just it’s gonna happen when it happens. When I’ll be ready I’ll know. I’ve always made my own decisions for myself. In living I trust; I will in death. I do believe my husband is there saying it’s about time. And I’ll say, ‘Hi, Arn. I’m here.’ That’s it.”</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">While details on the newest iteration of the runway show are not public yet, it’s clear that the brand has been embracing a variety of different models in recent years after facing criticism for not doing so in the past.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Lizzo, meanwhile, has been at the forefront of the body positivity and body acceptance movement. As a plus-sized performer, the Detroit-born singer said she considers a person’s weight a personal matter. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sales for the lingerie company </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/victorias-secret-brand-ceo-out-as-company-struggles-following-pursuit-of-wokeness"><span style="font-weight: 400;">dropped by 4.5%</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> to $1.5 billion in 2022, representing a decline of 8% compared to the previous year.</span></p>

<p><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/victorias-secret" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Victoria’s Secret</a> had spent decades marketing luxury lingerie with runway shows and supermodels. The once-iconic brand has nevertheless been languishing in recent years following a pivot toward <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/diversity" target="_blank" rel="noopener">diversity</a> and <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/woke" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wokeness</a>.</p>
<p>The company earned approval from the media as executives announced the end of the Angels fashion show broadcast four years ago and vowed to “rethink” marketing tactics. The Angels were later replaced with VS Collective, an “unparalleled group of trailblazing partners who share a common goal to drive positive change.” The brand that had built its image on models such as Heidi Klum and Gisele Bündchen would now be <a href="https://www.victoriassecret.com/us/thevscollective" target="_blank" rel="noopener">represented</a> by figures such as left-wing lesbian soccer player Megan Rapinoe and male-to-female <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/report-victorias-secret-hires-first-transgender-paul-bois" target="_blank" rel="noopener">transgender</a> person Valentina Sampaio.</p>
<p>The company’s website and social media pages now feature women of all shapes and sizes, as well as various nods to the purported importance of diversity and inclusion. The brand’s performance has meanwhile been less than angelic: the company permanently closed hundreds of stores and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/victorias-secret-went-woke-now-theyre-laying-off-160-management-positions" target="_blank" rel="noopener">axed</a> several dozen management-level positions over the past three years. Victoria’s Secret CEO Amy Hauk recently <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/victorias-secret-brand-ceo-out-as-company-struggles-following-pursuit-of-wokeness" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exited</a> the company after spending less than one year in her post.</p>
<p>Brittany Martinez, a model and the editor-in-chief of Evie Magazine, a beauty and lifestyle publication that promotes traditional femininity, characterized the decline of Victoria’s Secret as a “masterclass in a corporate brand misdiagnosing the root cause” during an interview with The Daily Wire. She contended that the company’s powerful brand had eclipsed overpriced and low-quality merchandise until the marketing overhaul.</p>
<p>“Instead of lowering their prices or improving their quality, they killed the Angel and the entire fantasy along with it,” Martinez said. “They made a critical mistake many companies have made: they obsessed over their competitors and the media instead of obsessing over their customers.”</p>
<p>Victoria’s Secret is indeed one of several companies in the fashion industry that has compromised branding to make controversial social statements. Balenciaga recently garnered <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/balenciaga-responds-to-child-bdsm-photo-shoot-scandal-we-could-have-done-things-differently" target="_blank" rel="noopener">backlash</a> for publishing a photoshoot which depicted young children holding teddy bears in bondage gear, while Ulta Beauty <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ulta-beauty-turns-off-comments-stands-by-offensive-transgender-video-that-triggered-boycott-calls" target="_blank" rel="noopener">featured</a> transgender social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney discussing “girlhood” alongside a “gender-fluid” hairdresser.</p>
<p>Martinez said that the move away from the “surface-level nature” of the Victoria’s Secret brand drastically changed the customer experience. “Shopping in their stores as a young woman used to be incredible. The supermodels in black and white on the walls. The scent. The displays. You felt like a bombshell. You didn’t shop there to take part in some kind of desperate activism,” she said. “Not only were they shaming the brand’s former celebration of feminine beauty and sensuality, but they replaced beloved female supermodels with activists.”</p>
<p>The new direction was even more palpable for males shopping for their significant others. “Countless men still readily buy products from left-leaning companies like Apple or watch the NFL regardless of their political ideology. But ask any man you know if they’ve been to Victoria’s Secret lately,” Martinez continued. “They’ll likely comment on the overweight mannequins or the fact that they’re looking at a biological man in cheekies and a pushup.”</p>
<p>Many customers of Victoria’s Secret believe the shift toward wokeness was merely performative in nature. Even as the company featured plus-sized models, executives were implementing damage control by signing “thin, white” celebrities such as Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber.</p>
<p>“Everyone could see what they were doing. They were checking the token diversity boxes, whereas other newer brands were built from day one with diversity and inclusion as part of their core values,” Martinez noted. “Victoria’s Secret will never be what it was. It feels like the brand has no clue what it is, what it’s selling, and who it’s selling to.”</p>

<p>Victoria’s Secret brand CEO Amy Hauk, who was also CEO of the company’s Pink brand, announced this week that she is leaving the company after less than a year on the job.</p>
<p>&#8220;Amy Hauk will be stepping down as CEO of Victoria&#8217;s Secret and Pink in order to spend more time with her family in Florida,&#8221; a spokesperson for the company said. &#8220;Amy has graciously agreed to a managed transition between now and the end of March. There are no plans to replace her role.&#8221;</p>
<p>The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/victorias-secret-went-woke-now-theyre-laying-off-160-management-positions" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> over the summer that the company did away with the iconic <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/victorias-secret-replaces-angels-with-megan-rapinoe-other-gender-equity-campaigners" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Victoria’s Secret Angels</a>, replaced models with the likes of soccer star and liberal activist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/megan-rapinoe" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Megan Rapinoe</a>, and even hired the company’s first biologically male <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/report-victorias-secret-hires-first-transgender-paul-bois" target="_blank" rel="noopener">transgender model</a> — but, unsurprisingly, the wokeness has not paid off.</p>
<p>Victoria’s Secret fired 160 management-level employees over the summer at its Ohio headquarters in an effort to save the business $40 million.</p>
<p>Notably, sales at the lingerie company dropped by 4.5% to $1.5 billion earlier in 2022, the New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/07/13/victorias-secret-shares-tumble-after-cutting-160-hq-managers-to-save-40m/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>, adding that comparable sales from the same period in 2021 had declined by 8%.</p>
<p>“When we first announced our repositioning, we got a significant amount of mail from people who said, ‘This is terrible, you’re scorching the earth, you’re spoiling your brand. We love the way it was before. Why are you changing it?’” Victoria’s Secret CEO Martin Waters <a href="https://www.retaildive.com/news/victorias-secret-ceo-the-haters-have-gone-away/619743/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>, denying the changes hurt the company.</p>
<p>The company in 2019 <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/report-victorias-secret-hires-first-transgender-paul-bois" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hired</a> its first transgender model, Valentina Sampaio, a biological male who identifies as female.</p>
<p>The move came as longtime VS chief marketing officer Ed Razek, who criticized the idea of hiring transgender models for the company’s fashion show, resigned.</p>
<p>“It’s like, why doesn’t your show do this? Shouldn’t you have transsexuals in the show?” Razek <a href="https://www.vogue.com/article/victorias-secret-ed-razek-monica-mitro-interview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Vogue in 2018, when asked about so-called inclusivity. “No. No, I don’t think we should. Well, why not? Because the show is a fantasy. It’s a 42-minute entertainment special. That’s what it is.”</p>
<p>And by 2021, the iconic VS Angels were <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/victorias-secret-replaces-angels-with-megan-rapinoe-other-gender-equity-campaigners" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dropped</a>, replaced with a new promotional campaign called the “VS Collective,” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/victorias-secret-replaces-angels-with-megan-rapinoe-other-gender-equity-campaigners" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Wire</a> reported.</p>

<p>The soccer star notably slammed the company she teamed up with for its “patriarchal” and “sexist” past.</p>
<p>The marketing was “patriarchal, sexist, viewing not just what it meant to be sexy but what the clothes were trying to accomplish through a male lens and through what men desired,” she <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/16/business/victorias-secret-collective-megan-rapinoe.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">complained</a> to The New York Times. “And it was very much marketed toward younger women.”</p>
<p>Rapinoe added that the VS Angels were “really harmful.”</p>

<p>Levine wed Prinsloo back in 2014, and just four days ago the model announced on Instagram that she&#8217;s pregnant with her and Levine&#8217;s third child.</p>
<p>&#8220;Embarrassed I was involved [with] a man with this utter lack of remorse and respect,&#8221; Stroh captioned a TikTok video spilling about the alleged affair.</p>
<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m just gonna rip the band-aid off,&#8221; the model said in the video, which has now been viewed millions of times. &#8220;Essentially, I was having an affair with a man who’s married to a Victoria’s Secret model.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;At the time, I was young, I was naive, and, I mean, quite frankly, I feel exploited,&#8221; Stroh continued. &#8220;I wasn’t in the scene like I am now. So I was definitely very easily manipulated.”</p>
<p>“Maroon 5 is practically elevator music at this point,” she said. “So, I’m sure you know who Adam Levine is.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Adam and I were seeing each other for about a year, after I stopped talking to him over a period of months, this is how he came back into my life,&#8221; the Instagram model said, showcasing screenshots of alleged messages from the singer.</p>
<p>“Ok serious question,&#8221; Levine allegedly said to Stroh, per the screenshots. &#8220;I’m having another baby and if it’s [a] boy I really wanna name it Sumner. You ok with that? DEAD serious.”</p>
<p>Reacting to the messages, Stroh said, &#8220;I have to be in Hell at this point.&#8221;</p>

<p>They did away with the iconic <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/victorias-secret-replaces-angels-with-megan-rapinoe-other-gender-equity-campaigners">Victoria&#8217;s Secret Angels</a>, replaced models with the likes of soccer star and liberal activist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/megan-rapinoe">Megan Rapinoe</a>, and even hired the company&#8217;s first biologically male <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/report-victorias-secret-hires-first-transgender-paul-bois">transgender model</a> &#8212; but, unsurprisingly, the wokeness has not paid off.</p>
<p>Victoria&#8217;s Secret is firing a whopping 160 management-level employees at its Ohio headquarters, an effort to save the business $40 million.</p>
<p>Notably, sales at the lingerie company dropped by 4.5% to $1.5 billion in the most recent quarter, the New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/07/13/victorias-secret-shares-tumble-after-cutting-160-hq-managers-to-save-40m/">reported</a>, adding that comparable sales from the same period last year have declined by 8%.</p>
<p>“When we first announced our repositioning, we got a significant amount of mail from people who said, ‘This is terrible, you’re scorching the earth, you’re spoiling your brand. We love the way it was before. Why are you changing it?’” Victoria’s Secret CEO Martin Waters <a href="https://www.retaildive.com/news/victorias-secret-ceo-the-haters-have-gone-away/619743/">said</a>, denying the changes hurt the company.</p>
<p>Those complaining were described by Waters as mostly men and others &#8220;who don’t subscribe to the values that we subscribe to.”</p>
<p>The company in 2019 <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/report-victorias-secret-hires-first-transgender-paul-bois">hired</a> its first transgender model, Valentina Sampaio, a biological male who identifies as female.</p>
<p>The move came as longtime VS chief marketing officer Ed Razek, who criticized the idea of hiring transgender models for the company&#8217;s fashion show, resigned.</p>
<p>&#8220;It’s like, why doesn’t your show do this? Shouldn’t you have transsexuals in the show?&#8221; Razek <a href="https://www.vogue.com/article/victorias-secret-ed-razek-monica-mitro-interview">told</a> Vogue in 2018, when asked about so-called inclusivity. &#8220;No. No, I don’t think we should. Well, why not? Because the show is a fantasy. It’s a 42-minute entertainment special. That’s what it is.&#8221;</p>
<p>And by 2021, the iconic VS Angels were <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/victorias-secret-replaces-angels-with-megan-rapinoe-other-gender-equity-campaigners">dropped</a>, replaced for a new promotional campaign called the “VS Collective,” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/victorias-secret-replaces-angels-with-megan-rapinoe-other-gender-equity-campaigners">The Daily Wire</a> reported.</p>
<p>“Fashion is a business of change. We must evolve and change to grow,&#8221; CEO Leslie Wexner <a href="https://pagesix.com/2019/05/10/victorias-secret-rethinking-annual-fashion-show-leaving-network-tv/">said</a> in 2019, announcing the end of the Angels fashion show broadcast. &#8220;With that in mind, we have decided to rethink the traditional Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.”</p>
<p>Rapinoe was tapped as one of the women to be in the new campaign, apparently based on her activism and achievements rather than her body or looks.</p>
<p>The soccer star notably slammed the company she teamed up with for its &#8220;patriarchal&#8221; and &#8220;sexist&#8221; past.</p>
<p>The marketing was &#8220;patriarchal, sexist, viewing not just what it meant to be sexy but what the clothes were trying to accomplish through a male lens and through what men desired,&#8221; she <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/16/business/victorias-secret-collective-megan-rapinoe.html">complained</a> to The New York Times. &#8220;And it was very much marketed toward younger women.”</p>
<p>Rapinoe added that the VS Angels were “really harmful.”</p>

<p>Supermodel Gigi Hadid talked about being in the &#8220;public eye&#8221; as one of the world&#8217;s most famous models and said she&#8217;s learned to worry &#8220;less about other people&#8217;s opinions.&#8221;</p>
<p>During the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/victorias-secret-model-says-shes-donating-income-from-all-her-runway-shows-to-help-ukraine">26-year-old</a> Victoria&#8217;s Secret model&#8217;s <a href="https://harpersbazaar.com.au/gigi-hadid-fashion-interview/">recent interview</a> for Harper&#8217;s Bazaar magazine, Hadid shared how she&#8217;s learned to handle the paparazzi being everywhere she goes and said she&#8217;s realized it&#8217;s just &#8220;not that serious&#8221; — especially when it comes to what she wears.</p>
<p>&#8220;Look, there are days when I feel good and then there are days when it is clearly all about sweatpants – and you can judge me for that, or you can see that I am a real person,&#8221; Gigi told the outlet. &#8220;Sometimes I am just going across the street to grab a coffee and that&#8217;s not a fashion moment – and that&#8217;s OK.&#8221;</p>

<p>In July of 2021, Gigi wrote a <a href="https://twitter.com/GiGiHadid/status/1412218548592726017?s=20&amp;t=MNWUTTlc2pBlNX3XldOh2g">letter to paparazzi,</a> press, and fan accounts issuing a plea to them to not post or publish photos of her first child with then-boyfriend Zayn Malik, a little girl, out of respect for her child&#8217;s privacy.</p>
<p>&#8220;As our baby grows up we have to realize that we can&#8217;t protect her from everything the way we wanted to and could when she was smaller,&#8221; the letter shared on Twitter read in part. &#8220;She loves seeing the world! And although she gets a lot of that out near the farm, she also gets to experience other places—a true blessing. On our most recent visits to New York, she has started to want her sun shade lifted up (something she is used to at home) and helps herself to it!&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;She doesn&#8217;t understand why she&#8217;s covered in the city or what I&#8217;ve wanted to protect her from,&#8221; she added. &#8220;I also want her to see the most amazing city in the world + the beautiful and diverse people that walk down the streets of NYC…that is, without the stress of the media circus that comes with parents who are public figures.&#8221;</p>
<p>“It would mean the world to us, as we take our daughter to see and explore NYC and the world, if you would PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE blur her face out of images, if and when she is caught on camera,&#8221; the letter continued. &#8220;I know it&#8217;s an extra effort—but as a new mom, I just want the best for my baby, as all parents do…and I hope this can continue the conversation to protect minors in the media, even if they come from a public family.&#8221;</p>
<p>At one point in the HB interview, Hadid also talked about stepping back from work during the early days of the pandemic and while she was pregnant with her first child, Khai Hadid Malik.</p>
<p>&#8220;After COVID, I was so ready to be around friends and people – and that has definitely brought the romance back into getting ready again,&#8221; the model shared. &#8220;I spent quarantine out of the city at the farm which was my place to just go and be comfortable – and of course, I was pregnant.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;It was definitely a good point in my life to have a break, but I was ready to come back to work again, and you know, serve those looks,&#8221; she added, while laughing.</p>
<p>In September 2020, the lingerie model gave birth to her daughter with Malik, the former One Direction star. Gigi and Zayn first started dating in November 2015 and were together off and on for nearly six years before their last <a href="https://www.etonline.com/gigi-hadid-and-zayn-malik-split-heres-what-led-to-their-breakup-174422">break up</a> late last year.</p>

Victoria’s Secret Model Says She’s Donating Income From All Her Runway Shows To Help Ukraine

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Bella Hadid’s recent confession proves that things aren’t always what they seem. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The 25-year-old Victoria’s Secret model is considered one of the most beautiful women in the world, plus she’s paid handsomely for that genetic blessing. Hadid has fame, fortune, and good looks, but according to a Wall Street Journal </span><a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/bella-hadid-on-overcoming-the-anxiety-of-getting-dressed-every-morning-11642426462"><span style="font-weight: 400;">article</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, she’s been suffering on the inside.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Specifically, the magazine cover model said she had hang-ups about her appearance while she wasn’t walking runways, and hadn’t employed a personal stylist “in a long time.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hadid explained how she was “in such a weird place mentally” making it difficult for her “to get out of the house and put an outfit together, especially with the anxiety of [photographers] being outside and all of that.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">She said, “In the last year, it was really important for me to learn that even if people talk about my style or if they like it or if they don’t, it doesn’t matter, because it’s my style. When I leave the house in the morning, what I think about is: Does this make me happy? Do I feel good in this and do I feel comfortable?”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hadid had previously spoken about anxiety issues on her social media page. Currently, she has 48.5 million followers on Instagram.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In September, the model </span><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CTSO-MZg2kJ/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">explained</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, “My social anxiety was something that slowly crept up on me as I grew into my twenties,” she wrote at the time. “It got harder for me to go out without having one drink to calm my nerves, which made me not want to go out at all, so I was just hibernating between jobs.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">She continued, “With a life that is constantly pushing a social regime, along with working 13 hour days, every single day, I knew this wasn’t a sustainable life for me.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hadid also told WSJ why she decided to post selfies of her crying and expressing extreme emotion.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I would have really depressive episodes and my mom or my doctor would ask how I was and instead of having to respond in text, I would just send them a photo,” she told the publication. “It was the easiest thing for me to do at the time because I was never able to explain how I was feeling.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I would just be in excruciating and debilitating mental and physical pain, and I didn’t know why. That was over the past three years,” she continued. And she was trying to normalize these types of feelings, “to make sure that anybody that was feeling that way knew it was OK to feel that way.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Like so many other celebrities and influencers on Instagram, the Chanel model promises that the perfect image she projects is not based in reality. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I felt like it was just good for me to be able to speak my truth,” she told WSJ. “And at some point I wasn’t able to post nice pretty pictures anymore. I was over it.” </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hadid says she’s just like the rest of us with a life of both beauty and pain.</span></p>
