Vacationers who choose Costa Cruises for their next adventure could face fines of up to $70 for bringing buffet food back to their cabins under a new onboard policy. 
Going forward, guests on some of these cruises will not be permitted to bring buffet food back to their rooms and will instead be asked to consume all meals in designated areas, per the cruise-focused blog Crew Center. This does not include meals that are delivered by Costa Cruise employees.
A statement regarding the update said, “guest safety and well-being are our top priority.”
“On a limited number of specific sailings, onboard communication was shared as a preventive and deterrent measure, in line with our existing policies, to encourage guests to [have] responsible behavior,” the Costa Cruises spokesperson <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/travel/cruise-buffet-guests-face-surprise-charges-taking-food-back-cabins">told</a> Fox News Digital.
“Costa Cruises remains committed to ensuring a high-quality, safe and enjoyable experience for all guests on board.”
The Genoa, Italy-based cruise line, which is a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation, operates routes throughout the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and South America.
The policy change sparked an online debate after being highlighted by the Instagram account unrealcruises.
One Instagram user <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DYpOf33DZ6y/">mentioned</a> that another cruise line tried something similar and said, “it did not end well for them,” and that they “had to end it.” 
“Let people eat where they want. Collect the dishes. It’s a cost. Bear it and pass it on to the cruiser. But these kinds of policies with policing never end well for the company,” the commenter wrote.
Others complained that eating breakfast or drinking coffee on private balconies is part of the cruise experience.
“We love to take our food and coffee to enjoy on our quiet balcony,” another person complained.
“Zero chance I’d pay that fine. Make breakfast in bed for my wife every morning by [bringing] food back. Who cares where you eat the included food,” echoed a third.
Others supported the measure, saying passengers often leave dirty dishes and half-eaten food scattered throughout hallways and decks.
“Umm, I say good, nothing worse than plates and cups lining the hallways, its not a good look. Never ever in 47 cruises needed to take food to my cabin…,” one supporter chimed in.
“Only the ones that do deck clearance know the struggle. Yall take everything from the buffet and toss the plates full on the hallways. Is it that hard to eat close to other people?” another agreed.

Cruise ship passengers traveling to the Bahamas on Tuesday, May 12, may be having a little bit less fun than usual.
That’s because the nation will be suspending all alcohol sales that day as they hold elections. Per <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/travel/disappointed-cruise-passengers-erupt-alcohol-ban-affects-major-voyages">Fox News Digital</a>, the ban on selling alcoholic beverages will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. This will include all popular hot spots and even private islands.
&#8220;Any person selling or exposing or offering for sale any intoxicating liquor during such hours shall be deemed to be so doing while not holding a license under the provisions of the Business License Act,&#8221; a notice from the Parliamentary Commissioner said. 
Two Royal Caribbean ships, Oasis of the Seas and Wonder of the Seas, will be visiting their private island CocoCay while the ban is in effect, the outlet noted.
Cruise lines will be permitted to sell alcoholic beverages on board their ships, but anyone who disembarks won’t be ordering any cocktails on dry land for all of Tuesday. 
&#8220;Royal Caribbean is respecting and complying with all local laws and regulations, as we do with every destination we visit,&#8221; a spokesperson for the popular cruise company said.
Predictably, travelers who were unaware of the alcohol ban are not pleased, with one saying her husband is “p*ssed.” 
“We scheduled a trip with stops in the Bahamas for our 40th anniversary. We are going with 26 of our friends. Planned activities at CocoCay and Nassau,” one traveler <a href="https://x.com/rhendrix69/status/2052180074808377358">shared</a> on X. “The general election has banned all alcohol for the two days we are there. And we find out only two days before we leave? Not a way to treat customers who cruise four times a year.”
Cruise ships are not having a good year, PR wise. Last week it was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/border-patrol-raids-disney-cruise-ship-in-major-child-porn-sting">reported</a> that U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents raided five cruise ships, including one Disney cruise ship, as they identified predators viewing and distributing child sexual exploitation material. This led to 28 arrests.
On top of that, a luxury cruise ship was hit by a deadly hantavirus outbreak in what’s been <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/americans-enter-quarantine-in-u-s-after-hantavirus-nightmare-at-sea">described as</a> a “nightmare at sea.” The vessel was effectively stranded at sea while governments and health agencies coordinated where passengers could safely disembark and quarantine. At least nine confirmed or suspected cases have now been linked to the outbreak, including three fatalities.

Carnival Cruise Line is responding to backlash over their recent policy changes, specifically addressing new rules regarding music and behavior which many social media users have dubbed “racist.”
&#8220;Unfortunately, certain media outlets have blown this matter out of proportion,&#8221; Matt Lupoli, Senior Manager of Public Relations at Carnival Cruise Line, told Parade in a <a href="https://parade.com/news/carnival-cruise-line-shuts-down-backlash-over-rules-on-music-curfews-fans">statement</a>.
&#8220;We have always had a wide variety of entertainment options and for the last several years we have communicated our expectations about guest behavior,” he continued.

The rules included a stricter drug policy. “Marijuana, including cannabis and its derivatives, and other illegal substances, are unlawful and strictly prohibited on board,” a letter noting all the rules says. “Smoking of any kind in undesignated areas such as staterooms and balconies is strictly prohibited.”
Guests under the age of 17 must stay out of public areas after 1 a.m. unless accompanied by an adult. The new rules also say that certain handheld fans are also prohibited due to the loud “clack” sound. These fans are used as part of a viral dance trend, but now Carnival says for the safety and comfort of other guests, they’re no longer allowed.
The letter also prohibits portable speakers from being used without headphones. There is also a 15-drink maximum in a 24-hour period.
Several social media users have reacted with accusations of racism, saying that Carnival is trying to discourage black vacationers from their cruise ships by coming up with rules specifically targeting their actions, per <a href="https://www.theroot.com/carnivals-new-rules-got-black-folks-i-all-i-in-their-2000048264">The Root</a>. 
One person on TikTok replied by saying, “Carnival does not have to worry about me,” noting how she cancelled her reservation following the new rules being posted. “We got the message loud and clear, we are not your demographic anymore&#8230; Carnival decided they wanted to rebrand.”
&#8220;Why would you not want people to be able to bring speakers to listen to their own music?&#8221; another woman said in a TikTok which included the caption, &#8220;Carnival Cruise Line does not like colored people.&#8221;
&#8220;Y&#8217;all got some nerve,&#8221; she added. &#8220;Because y&#8217;all are mad dirty, y&#8217;all are mad cheap, y&#8217;all mad ghetto. Every time I see a video of Carnival, the stairways is all rusty, y&#8217;all got a whole documentary about how y&#8217;all ships be catching on fire and sh** mixed with piss all on the walls, all on the floors, and y&#8217;all got beef with rap music.&#8221;
Other commenters defended the changes, however. 
“Y’all have to learn how to act… I’m not gone lie.. y’all really made the value go down. I’m not mad at it.” 
“I’ve never seen a carnival cruise video on social media that makes me want to go. It’s like the Walmart of cruise lines,” another person said. 
“It’s not racism but certain stuff becomes a liability after a while,” another commenter agreed.
“Carnival got tired of being the Section 8 of the Sea,” echoed another.
There are also unconfirmed <a href="https://x.com/1antondaniels/status/1939858997223571881">claims</a> that Carnival has banned rap music from the clubs on their ships, which a rep for the company declined. 
“Our DJs play a wide variety of music, including hip-hop,” a rep told <a href="https://www.dailydot.com/culture/carnival-cruise-canceled-new-rules/">The Daily Dot</a>.

Biden&#8217;s vacation days outnumbered the 381 taken by President Donald Trump during his first term of 1,461 days — which comes out to approximately 26% of his time in office — and even managed to surpass the previous record set by the late George H.W. Bush, who spent 543 of his 1,461 days as president, or 37%, on vacation.
Former President George W. Bush had a slightly lower vacation-to-work ratio, taking 1020 vacation days out of his 2,922 days in office (35%). The late President Ronald Reagan and former President Barack Obama came in at 11%, and the late President Jimmy Carter vacationed for just 5% of his presidency.
Biden put them all to shame when, after being unceremoniously ousted from the Democrats&#8217; 2024 presidential ticket, he took 23 days off in a row beginning on August 8th.
Biden also made headlines when he issued 39 pardons and nearly 1,500 sentence commutations on December 12, 2024 — the &#8220;largest single-day act of clemency in modern history.&#8221;

According to Republicans on the House Oversight and Reform Committee, Kiana donated $1 million to the Biden Foundation in 2017, $750,000 to the pro-Biden super PAC Unite the Country, and $1 million to the Biden Inaugural Committee. Concerned about the ties between Biden and Kiani, they wrote a <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Norman-Letter-to-OMB-042122.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> to the Director of the Office of Management and Budget in April 2022 that stated:

If he continues to spend 39% of his presidency on vacation, the total over two terms will be 1,106 days — just over three full years.

According to <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/white-house/joe-biden-biggest-new-years-resolution-tropical-vacation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Washington Examiner</a>, Biden was referring to the luxe vacation destination when he said he resolved to &#8220;come back&#8221; in 2024.
&#8220;I know you guys hate this assignment down here. I&#8217;m sorry to bring you down here,&#8221; he joked with reporters.
Others — like the hosts of &#8220;Fox &amp; Friends&#8221; on Sunday morning — interpreted his resolution as a promise to come back from vacation and return to work in the White House.
Pete Hegseth, according to a report from Mediaite, said the he believed Biden was actually resolving to &#8220;stay alive.&#8221;
&#8220;That’s what it feels like, right?&#8221; cohost Johnny Joey Jones replied.
Rachel Campos-Duffy added, &#8220;That’s what Obama told him, to stay alive.&#8221;
&#8220;Joe, just make it, man,&#8221; Jones continued.
&#8220;I’m just coming back next year — which is tomorrow,&#8221; Hegseth joked.
Jones went on to point out some resolutions he thought Biden would be wise to consider as 2024 began: &#8220;Don’t let the dog bite as many people, don’t let the kids get in as much trouble.&#8221;

Biden <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/09/04/biden-insists-delaware-beach-house-visit-isnt-vacation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> the Secret Service is working on his other home in Wilmington, Delaware, to “make it secure.” 
“The reason I’m here today, just for one day — I know people [say] I’m on vacation, I’m not,” Biden said while leaving mass at St. Edmond Roman Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach. “I have no home to go to. Secret Service has torn my house up in a good way to make it secure. So I have no place to go when I come to Delaware except here right now. I&#8217;m only here for one day.”
A reporter then asked Biden whether he was homeless, to which the president replied, “Oh I’m not homeless, I just have one home. I have a beautiful home. I’m down here for the day because I can’t go home.”

According to the New York Post, Biden has said the Secret Service has been doing work – including installing bulletproof windows – at his Wilmington residence since April. 
The president departed Delaware at 7:15 a.m. ET on Monday and arrived in Philadelphia shortly after, according to his <a href="https://factba.se/biden/calendar" target="_blank" rel="noopener">public schedule</a>. The day before, he had no official events scheduled. He is expected to return to Washington on Monday evening.

While in Philadelphia, Biden delivered a Labor Day speech to Sheet Metal Workers Local 19 on the importance of unions. During his address, the president <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/09/04/politics/joe-biden-labor-day/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">touted</a> “Bidenomics.”  
“[The Biden administration is] replacing trickle-down economics with what everyone on Wall Street is referring to these days as Bidenomics, and guess what? It’s working. It’s about building the economy from the middle out and the bottom up not the top down.”
A recent report from the Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/09/02/slacker-in-chief-biden-keeps-up-record-40-vacay-pace/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">referred</a> to the president as the “Slacker-in-chief” and found that since taking office, he has spent 40% of his presidency on “personal overnight trips away from the White House.” That adds up to all or part of 382 of the 957 days the president has been in office as of early this month, according to the Post. 
“We have millions of illegal immigrants pouring across our borders. Violent crime is surging. Inflation is crushing hard-working Americans. Our enemies around the world are emboldened,” Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) told the outlet regarding Biden’s vacation time. “Meanwhile, Joe Biden is filmed on the beach with his handlers preventing him from speaking to the media to answer basic questions Americans deserve answers to.”
After Biden’s most recent comments, the House Judiciary GOP <a href="https://twitter.com/JudiciaryGOP/status/1698517335672242561" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> to X, “There are approximately 30,000 homeless veterans in the United States. But Joe Biden, who has two homes, plus the White House, says he has no where (sic) to go. Unbelievable.”

The president and First Lady Jill Biden traveled to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/maui-residents-blast-biden-for-absence-following-fires-why-are-we-being-ignored">Maui</a> on Monday — after reporters pressed Biden several times about when he planned to make the trip — to tour the damage to the historic town of Lahaina and the surrounding areas.

But in response to the claims made by spokesperson Olivia Dalton — namely that Biden had been there &#8220;since day one&#8221; — critics pointed out that on &#8220;day one&#8221; of the deadly fires that have left more than 100 dead and hundreds still missing, the president was actually on vacation.

When members of the press caught up with President Biden in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, they asked him directly about the rising death toll in Maui. His response, when asked whether he had anything to say on the subject, was simple: &#8220;No, no comment.&#8221;
Several days later, when he returned to the White House from his weekend at the beach, staffers kept members of the press corps cordoned off as he walked from Marine One to the West Wing, so far away from them that he couldn&#8217;t hear their shouted questions.

Independent journalist Glenn Greenwald pointed out the disparity in the way that corporate media had covered Biden&#8217;s failure to answer questions, noting that previous presidents had been vilified for far less.

&#8220;That’s the ball game,&#8221; Shapiro said. &#8220;Does that sound like the kind of thing you would text to a family member that was actually entirely false and in reality, no money had ever changed hands?&#8221;
No, it doesn&#8217;t. And messages like that could help explain why Biden&#8217;s Department of Justice and Hunter&#8217;s attorneys apparently attempted to hide from a federal judge that a plea deal worked out between the two parties could grant  Hunter immunity from Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA) violations in the future.
Perhaps in light of the plea deal imploding, the president decided he wanted to do what any man of his age and stature wants to do: Enjoy the lazy dog days of summer by the coast. He was there a few weeks ago and was able to enjoy some peace and quiet. It looked like nobody wanted to talk to him. That makes sense. Would you know Biden from any other elderly retiree on the beach?

President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Biden</a> escaped winter&#8217;s chill with a trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands where he and first lady Jill Biden are staying at the home of wealthy donors, according to multiple reports.
Air Force One <a href="http://www.virginislandsdailynews.com/news/bidens-whisked-away-shortly-after-plane-lands/article_7d1adac1-bc11-53e3-8620-296337cf86ed.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">landed late Tuesday evening</a> at Rohlsen Airport on St. Croix, on which the First Couple are expected to celebrate New Year&#8217;s Eve as much of the country digs itself out of a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/once-in-a-generation-type-event-bomb-cyclone-targets-united-states-cancelling-flights" target="_blank" rel="noopener">massive Arctic blast</a> and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/thousands-stranded-as-southwest-cancels-two-thirds-of-post-christmas-flights" target="_blank" rel="noopener">flight cancellations</a> leave thousands of travelers stranded.
The Bidens have made the Caribbean island a regular vacation destination over the years, and they are residing at a familiar spot this week as the forecast calls for sun and temperatures hovering between the low 70s and 80s Fahrenheit.
&#8220;As they have done previously, the President and the First Lady are staying at the home of their friends Bill and Connie Neville,&#8221; <a href="https://twitter.com/DevonHeinen/status/1608133960902795264" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the White House told reporters</a>.
Bill Neville is a tech executive and his wife Connie is a self-employed designer, per reports from <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/28/politics/biden-st-croix-vacation/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CNN</a> and <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11579783/The-St-Croix-vacation-home-Biden-staying-free-owned-billionaire-Democratic-donor.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Daily Mail</a>. As <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/12/28/biden-staying-at-st-croix-villa-of-donors-who-got-state-dinner-invite/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">noted by the New York Post</a>, the Bidens are not paying to stay at the villa, which has an in-ground pool and direct beach access, and the their vacation comes a few weeks after the Nevilles&#8217; names <a href="https://www.axios.com/2022/12/02/biden-state-dinner-guest-list-full" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appeared on the celebrity-packed guest list</a> for the president&#8217;s first state dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron on December 1.
Federal Election Commission records show <a href="https://www.fec.gov/data/receipts/individual-contributions/?committee_id=C00703975&amp;committee_id=C00744946&amp;contributor_name=Connie+Neville&amp;contributor_name=NEVILLE%2C+WILLIAM+V.&amp;contributor_name=William+Neville" target="_blank" rel="noopener">more than $10,000 in contributions</a> in 2020 by &#8220;William&#8221; Neville and Connie Neville from the Virgin Islands to Biden for President, the Biden Victory Fund, as well as contributions to the campaigns of various Republican and Democratic candidates over the years.
The arrangement for this week&#8217;s stay at the Nevilles&#8217; villa led Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton to raise concerns about the potential for corruption. The conservative watchdog alluded to the controversy surrounding the foreign business activities of first son Hunter Biden, dealings from which <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/04/05/joe-biden-claims-he-and-son-hunter-biden-never-talked-foreign-business/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the White House</a> has distanced the president.
“Hunter’s laptop and other evidence show Biden’s record of converting his public office into private gain,” Fitton said, <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/12/28/biden-staying-at-st-croix-villa-of-donors-who-got-state-dinner-invite/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to the New York Post</a>. “So it is no surprise Biden is getting a free luxury vacation from a wealthy donor who ‘coincidentally’ received primo White House state dinner tickets.”
Anticipations are high among Democrats, as the president is likely going to make a decision about running for reelection in 2024 after the holidays, White House Chief of Staff <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-12-06/biden-likely-to-announce-re-election-after-holidays-klain-says?leadSource=uverify%20wall" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ron Klain said this month</a>. The Bidens are expected to return to Washington, D.C., on January 2.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-signs-847-billion-defense-bill-scrapping-military-covid-vaccine-mandate/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">President Joe Biden</a> and his wife Jill are being slammed for heading off on a New Year’s vacation to the Virgin Islands while Americans across the nation suffer <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/futuristic-scenes-as-buffalo-freezes-over-at-least-16-people-dead/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">freezing temperatures</a> that have reportedly left at least 70 people dead, prompting outrage on social media.
The Bidens’ destination, the Caribbean island of St. Croix, is currently seeing temperatures well above 80 degrees and hosted the couple in 2014, 2015, and 2016. The Bidens have visited the Caribbean every year since 2008, the Daily Mail <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11574981/Bad-optics-Bidens-head-Virgin-Islands-U-S-snow-Title-42-faces-end.html">noted</a>. The president and first lady will leave on Tuesday before returning to Washington, D.C., on January 2.
“Joe and Jill are headed to sunny warm St. Croix, U.S., Virgin Islands for a little vacation, while people in Buffalo are freezing to death in their cars. He doesn’t give a s***!” one conservative critic fumed.
Other comments included, “Joe is in the warm Virgin Islands getting ready to celebrate New Year’s while Americans at home freeze to death,” “Buffalo citizens are freezing and dying while Joe Biden bikes in the Virgin Islands,” and “I remember a time when Presidents at least made an effort to feign compassion, leadership, sacrifice, etc. A time when optics mattered. Not this President. While half the country freezes, this a**hole runs off to the Virgin Islands.”
Every state in the continental United States saw temperatures drop below freezing over the weekend. In Buffalo, New York, at least 28 people died due to the freezing temperatures and massive snowfall.
Although hundreds of flights have been canceled across the nation because of the severe weather, the Bidens will be flying on Air Force One. Thousands of flights scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday were canceled by Southwest Airlines; by midday EST  Tuesday, over 2,900 U.S. flights were canceled and another 2,400 others delayed, <a style="font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;" href="https://flightaware.com/live/cancelled/">according to FlightAware</a>.
Last Thursday, over 2,600 flights were canceled in the U.S., <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/27/business/southwest-flights-canceled-travel.html?smtyp=cur&amp;smid=tw-nytimes">The New York Times</a> reported.
In the first 589 days Biden served as president, he spent 234 days — roughly 40% — on vacation, the New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/08/31/biden-hit-for-spending-40-of-his-time-on-vacation/">noted</a> in August, with 70% of his vacation time spent at his homes in Delaware.
White House spokesman Andrew Bates defended Biden’s vacations, saying, “The presidency is a nonstop job that chief executives can do from anywhere in the world. Regardless of location, he has taken fewer vacation days than the modern norm. Being somewhere other than the White House is not the same thing as being on vacation.”
