Filmmaker Tyler Perry has been accused of sexual assault and is being sued for $260 million.
Actor Derek Dixon, who is best known for his work in “The Oval” and “Ruthless,” filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles accusing Perry of creating a “coercive, sexually exploitative dynamic” while he was working on those projects. 
Dixon claims to have turned down Perry’s “unwanted advances,” which he claims resulted in “escalating sexual harassment, assault and battery, and professional retaliation,” per <a href="https://apnews.com/article/tyler-perry-lawsuit-derek-dixon-oval-45c6b19ed17e728e67aceb0ab130aa0d">The Associated Press</a>. 
The actor said he met Perry while working at an event for Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta in 2019. Dixon alleges that the media mogul made sexually explicit comments and advances at that time, which he rebuffed. 
The lawsuit lists several specific instances of alleged abuse, including what Dixon concluded to be threats over the future of his career.
“Mr. Perry made it clear to Dixon that if Dixon ignored Perry or failed to engage with the sexual innuendos, Dixon’s character would ‘die’ in the next season [of ‘The Oval],” the document states, adding that it was “always held this over Mr Dixon’s head, implying that [his character] ‘Dale’ would survive if Dixon kept Perry ‘happy.’”
“Dixon did his best to tiptoe around Mr. Perry’s sexual aggression while keeping on Mr. Perry’s good side,” the document says.
During another alleged incident described in the lawsuit, the plaintiff claims Perry “forcibly pulled off Mr. Dixon’s clothing, groped his buttocks, and attempted to force himself on Dixon.”
Perry’s attorney denied the allegations on behalf of his client, saying they were nothing more than a shakedown.
“This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam,” Boyd said in a statement to AP. “But Tyler will not be shaken down, and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail.”
Perry is a filmmaker, playwright, and actor who gained national recognition with his stage plays in the early 2000s, particularly those featuring the character Madea. He has written, produced, acted in, and directed numerous films and television shows.
In 2019, he opened Tyler Perry Studios, a 330-acre production facility in Atlanta. Forbes listed him as the highest-paid man in entertainment in 2011, and in 2020, he became a billionaire, the outlet <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/maddieberg/2020/09/01/from-poor-as-hell-to-billionaire-how-tyler-perry-changed-show-business-forever/">reported</a>.

Filmmaker <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tyler-perry">Tyler Perry</a> is pausing his studio expansion plans due to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/artificial-intelligence">AI technology</a>, which he fears is poised to radically alter the entertainment industry.
The 54-year-old actor had been planning an $800 million expansion of his studio in Atlanta, including 12 new soundstages, per <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/tyler-perry-ai-alarm-1235833276/">The Hollywood Reporter</a>. 
But now the project is on hold indefinitely after Perry was introduced to OpenAI’s text-to-video model Sora, the outlet noted. Sora debuted on February 15.
“Being told that it can do all of these things is one thing, but actually seeing the capabilities, it was mind-blowing,” the filmmaker told THR during an interview published Thursday.
He went on to issue a dire warning for the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hollywood">entertainment</a> industry. “There’s got to be some sort of regulations in order to protect us. If not, I just don’t see how we survive,” Perry said.
When the interviewer asked what specifically about the technology made him nervous, the “House of Payne” creator described some of Sora’s capabilities. 
“I no longer would have to travel to locations,” he said. “If I wanted to be in the snow in Colorado, it’s text. If I wanted to write a scene on the moon, it’s text, and this AI can generate it like nothing. If I wanted to have two people in the living room in the mountains, I don’t have to build a set in the mountains, I don’t have to put a set on my lot. I can sit in an office and do this with a computer, which is shocking to me.”
Perry went on to lament what this could mean for standard industry positions, from actors to sound techs and editors. “I’m thinking this will touch every corner of our industry,” he added.

“I think it’s going to be a major game-changer, because if you could spend a fraction of the cost to do a pilot that would’ve cost $15 [million], $20 million or even $35 million if you’re looking at HBO, of course the bottom line of those companies would be to go the route of lesser costs,” Perry said. “So I am very, very concerned that in the near future, a lot of jobs are going to be lost. I really, really feel that very strongly.”
As for what to do about it, the filmmaker says he hopes the industry execs will have “some sort of compassion for humanity and the people that have worked in this industry and built careers and lives.” He also mentioned that the entire Hollywood community needs to enforce rules and regulations, not just individual unions.
Beyond that, he’s hoping for government intervention. “If you look at it across the world, how it’s changing so quickly, I’m hoping that there’s a whole government approach to help everyone be able to sustain, is my hope,” Perry said.

Filmmaker and actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-tyler-perry-says-we-need-more-police-fears-blm-message-being-hijacked">Tyler Perry</a> rebuffed the notion that he should be talking to his seven-year-old son about <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/race">race</a>, noting his child&#8217;s innocence.
&#8220;Every time I talk to a Black man who has a son, I ask: &#8216;How do you protect your child? What do you teach your child about becoming a man?'&#8221; an AARP reporter <a href="https://www.aarp.org/entertainment/celebrities/info-2022/tyler-perry.html">asked</a> Perry during an interview published this month.
&#8220;I haven’t had the conversation with Aman because he’s only 7, and I want to hold out as long as I can,&#8221; Perry responded.
&#8220;I don’t want to tell him that there are people who will judge him because of the color of his skin, because right now he’s in a school with every race, and all these kids are in their purest form,&#8221; he explained. &#8220;When he describes his friends, he never defines them by race.&#8221;
&#8220;The moment he loses that innocence is going to be a very, very sad day for me,&#8221; Perry said. &#8220;I know it’s coming, though, because he’s already asking some really tough questions.&#8221;
&#8220;What I want him to be, more than anything, is somebody who sees injustice, speaks out against it and affects change,&#8221; he added.
During the same interview, Perry said he tries to shield his son from the public as much as he can.
“My son’s not famous,&#8221; the 52-year-old said. &#8220;I want him to have as normal a life as he can. I want him to know what it’s like to have his own name and his own life and not have the pressure of trying to live up to whatever or whoever your father was.”
Perry, who is liberal in his politics, has somewhat veered from the &#8220;acceptable&#8221; mainstream narrative in several areas, including how he feels about law enforcement.
At last year&#8217;s Oscars, the &#8220;Temptation&#8221; creator denounced hate, including hatred of police officers.
Perry, accepting the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/tyler-perrys-oscar-speech-goes-viral-my-mother-taught-me-to-refuse-hate">told</a> viewers, “In this time, with all of the internet and social media and algorithms and everything that wants us to think a certain way, the 24-hour news cycle … it is my hope that all of us would teach our kids, and I want to remember: just refuse hate. Don’t hate anybody.”
“I refuse to hate someone because they are Mexican or because they are black or white or LBGTQ,” the producer said. “I refuse to hate someone because they are a police officer. I refuse to hate someone because they are Asian.”

Similarly, in 2020, Perry seemed to counter-signal the radical &#8220;defund the police&#8221; movement.
&#8220;Lately, I’ve been very, very concerned that the message is being hijacked by some other groups or political ads and parties that are trying to stop the message of what we’re asking for here [is] police reform, right?” the actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-tyler-perry-says-we-need-more-police-fears-blm-message-being-hijacked">said</a>, referring to activism in the aftermath of George Floyd&#8217;s death. “So, yeah, I was, but I’m worried now because of what I’m seeing.”
Speaking of the &#8220;defund the police&#8221; movement, Perry continued: “Well, when I first heard it, I was troubled by it, and I thought okay, this is — this is going to be weaponized by — in this political year. I completely thought that that was happening. That’s exactly what’s happened. It’s been weaponized,” he said. “But I did some research. And what I would challenge people to do is do research and find out what it means. Now, you’ve got to understand this — I’m not for taking money from the police department. Perry, who is liberal in his politics, turned heads in July when he rejected calls to “Defund the Police&#8221; by Black Lives Matter activists.
“So, when they saw George Floyd’s death, this horrific, horrible death played out, as this man pleaded for his life and begged, said ‘please’ many, many times, it — seeing it changes everything,” Perry <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-tyler-perry-says-we-need-more-police-fears-blm-message-being-hijacked">said</a>. “So I became very, very optimistic when everybody galvanized together because I know that’s when change comes. When people galvanize and come together as one, that’s when change happens.”
“But lately, I’ve been very, very concerned that the message is being hijacked by some other groups or political ads and parties that are trying to stop the message of what we’re asking for here [is] police reform, right?” the actor continued. “So, yeah, I was, but I’m worried now because of what I’m seeing.”

Tyler Perry is hardly the first person to compare the election integrity laws to Jim Crow, a buzz phrase that has regularly been used by leftists since Republican Governor Brian Kemp signed the bill into law.

Media mogul Tyler Perry has rejected calls to &#8220;Defund the Police,” and has even argued that America needs more police that are better trained and equipped to handle different situations.
Appearing Wednesday on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360,” movie mogul and actor Tyler Perry expressed concerns over the so-called “Defund the Police” protests around the country, as well as the idea that George Floyd&#8217;s horrible death has been &#8220;hijacked&#8221; by people with a less-than-unifying message.
“So, when they saw George Floyd’s death, this horrific, horrible death played out, as this man pleaded for his life and begged, said ‘please’ many, many times, it — seeing it changes everything,” he said, as reported by <a href="https://www.redstate.com/mike_miller/2020/07/30/tyler-perry-rains-all-over-cnn%E2%80%99s-%E2%80%98defund-the-police%E2%80%99-parade-%E2%80%98we-need-more-police%E2%80%99/">Red State</a>. “So I became very, very optimistic when everybody galvanized together because I know that’s when change comes. Perry&#8217;s remarks echo that of former basketball star Charles Barkley, who condemned the “Defund the Police” movement by praising the many police officers who do a good job.
“We need the cops, most of the cops do a fantastic job, but instead of defunding and all this other stuff, let’s just do police reform. Everybody should be on board for that whether you’re a Democrat, Republican, conservative or liberal,” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/charles-barkley-dismisses-defund-police-movement-most-cops-do-a-fantastic-job">he said</a>.
“The Democrats and the Republicans can’t even talk about police reform,” he continued. “That’s the number one thing they should do before they do anything else. That’s something we have been talking about since [former NFL quarterback Colin] Kaepernick kneeled, and these clowns in the Democratic Party and Republican Party, that’s the number one thing they should do before they do anything else.”
Likewise, actor Terry Crews <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/equality-is-the-truth-terry-crews-warns-against-black-supremacy-gets-slammed-with-backlash">has been critical</a> of the more radical elements of Black Lives Matter. In June, the actor warned black Americans against the idea of “black supremacy.”
“Defeating White supremacy without White people creates Black supremacy. Equality is the truth,” said Crews. “Like it or not, we are all in this together.”
After facing intense backlash for that comment, Crews explained that he meant for blacks to form alliances with white people as opposed to creating resentment between races.
“I was not saying Black supremacy exists because it doesn’t. I am saying if both Black and Whites don’t continue to work together – bad attitudes and resentments can create a dangerous self-righteousness. That’s all,” he said.
Defund The Police became wildly popular among the far-left when the group “Black Lives Matter”<a href="https://blacklivesmatter.com/defundthepolice/"> joined the incendiary hashtag</a> by issuing a list of demands.
“We call for an end to the systemic racism that allows this culture of corruption to go unchecked and our lives to be taken,” said the organization. “We call for a national defunding of police. We demand investment in our communities and the resources to ensure Black people not only survive, but thrive. If you’re with us, add your name to the petition right now and help us spread the word.”

Filmmaker Tyler Perry has offered to pay for the funeral of Rayshard Brooks, the 27-year-old black man shot by police in Atlanta last week.
In a press conference on Monday, L. Chris Stewart, the attorney representing the family of Rayshard Brooks, confirmed that Tyler Perry offered to pay for the funeral services.
“We want to thank and acknowledge Tyler Perry, who we spoke with, who will be taking care of the funeral for the family,” said Stewart, as reported by <a href="https://deadline.com/2020/06/tyler-perry-rayshard-brooks-funeral-atlanta-police-1202960032/">Deadline</a>. “It’s support like that and it’s people who are actually in this community — that love the community, that want healing and families like this to never have to go through something like this — to step forward.”
Tyler Perry himself has not publicly acknowledged the charitable offer. As noted by <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/15/entertainment/tyler-perry-rayshard-brooks-funeral/index.html">CNN</a>, Perry has a history of making such offers in the face of tragedy.

In 2016,<a href="https://www.ajc.com/news/crime--law/tyler-perry-offers-pay-for-funeral-twins-who-died-hot-car/A4xrerANmCjgo3esoAa21N/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> he reportedly offered to pay for the funeral for 15-month-old twin girls Ariel Roxanne North and Alaynah Maryanne North</a>, who died after being left in a hot car in Carrollton, Georgia.</blockquote>
Rayshard Brooks was killed in Atlanta, Georgia, last Friday night after an altercation with police in a Wendy’s parking lot, where police were called on reports that Brooks was “passed out” behind the wheel of his vehicle in the drive-through line.
Body camera footage released by the police department on Sunday shows that the situation remained mostly calm until Brooks tested as over the limit on the breathalyzer. When the officers tried to handcuff Brooks for driving while under the influence, Brooks attempted to flee, grappling with police, who repeatedly warned him to “stop fighting” and that he would “get Tased.” In the struggle, Brooks managed to get ahold of one of the officers’ Tasers. One of the officers then used his Taser on Brooks, who was running away before turning and allegedly attempting to shoot the officer with the stolen Taser. It was at this point that an officer fired on Brooks.
On Wednesday, Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard charged Officer Garrett Rolfe, who pulled the trigger on Brooks, with 11 counts, &#8220;including felony murder and assault with a deadly weapon,&#8221; according to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-former-atlanta-officer-charged-with-felony-murder-in-shooting-of-rayshard-brooks">The Daily Wire</a>. Rolfe&#8217;s partner, Devin Brosnan, has been placed on administrative leave and currently faces three charges.
Rolfe and Brosnan responded to the charges through their attorneys.
“The decision to initiate charges by the Fulton County DA’s office is irrational and obviously based on factors which should have nothing to do with the proper administration of justice,” Brosnan’s attorney said. “This was not a rush to judgment. This was a rush to misjudgment.”
“Officer Rolfe is well known to the courts and there is no compelling reason to bring any charges against them before the GBI has completed its investigation and published its findings,” Rolfe’s attorney said.
